Videos of GM Vincent Cabales doing Cabales Serrada Escrima have been
posted to www.YouTube.com.  Once you enter YouTube.com, go to

Four videos were filmed on August 31, 2006 at GM Vincent Cabales
Serrada Academy on Harding Way, next to Gong Lee's in Stockton.  You

Heheh. I got kicked of that big list for saying I was taught a different
basic progression than the moderator. When I was learning Serrada, I got
outside, inside, cross and umbrella blocks for angle #1, then outside,
shoulder, cross and umbrella for angle #2. At that point Angel already
started feeding me those two angles as a basic lock-and-block. Angle #3 was
five basic techniques. Angle #4 was four, with a variation ending on one.
Angle #5 was seven techniques. Of course, later on we went back and I got
more variations on those themes, but the all basic concepts were in place
before moving on to the next angle. Angel had me using this same structure
for my students and I've used it now for 20 or so years.

Regarding the teaching of the Davis/Cabales System of Serrada
Escrima ... we have approached it # x #.

In other words, providing all the information for each angle step by
step in order of progression.  In this way giving the student full
scope of what is available to them.  This would include empty hand
translations and disarms.  We do not cover reversals at that time
however.

I can not speak for anyone else, however, I was introduced to the
system "by the numbers" so to speak.  But we were given "3" counters
for each angle with empty hand translations and disarms.  After
learning # 6 this was a testing time for rank progression.  Then
obviously went thru #s 7 - 12 in the same fashion.

In the midst of this also came lock & block and sumbrada and C hand
progressionary drils.

We then came back to #1 and learned the "advanced" counters,
translations, & disarms.  Also during this progression we tackled
the built in system of reversals and picking and such.

If memory serves Mr Servaes, you have neither been "sanctioned" by
Vincent Cabales Sr. or been asked to speak for the Cabales family in
any way.

I have indeed met new friends, compatriots and "family" at our
gathering to commemorate the Great Grandmaster Angel Cabales.  All
of whom I will say are fine individuals regardless of where their
alliances may be and regardless under whose auspises they speak.

Yourself, however, I cannot include in the afforementioned group.
The members here in may ask "Why?"; simply put you were not a
presence at the commemoration and banquet.  When Vincent Cabales Sr.
and Vincent Cabales Jr., Wade Williams, Carlito Bonjoc, Ben Pagtanac
and others arrived, you were not there.  You were not there to show
support for the youngest of Vincent Cabales' siblings and their
mother ... Gelmar, MaryGel and MaryTess respectively.

For someone who wishes to honor tradition, the art and family of the
art of Cabales Serrada Escrima, you were no where to be found ... at
least not near the celebration itself.  Interesting, isn't it, that
someone, who has claimed to be a supporter of Vincent Cabales Sr.
and his representation of Cabales Serrada Escrima, was not there to
share this event.

Again, you've chosen to take issue with the "inheritance" of both
the art of Cabales Serrada Escrima as well as the title of
Grandmaster.  Why would you not find that equal inheritance should
then belong to let's say perhaps a GM Gelmar Cabales, GM MaryGel
Cabales as well and would you muster your support behind these
titles as well???

These are the things that make me go HMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!

All this asside, my words are not as eloquent as GM Anthony Davis of
the WSEF/MAI...





Re: Mr. Dennis Servaes;

Mr. Servaes it has become quite clear and apparent to me that you
are representing yourself as a lone ranger. I've spoken directly
with Vincent Cabales Jr. concerning where you stand in terms of his
and his father's organization, and what it appears to boil down to
is; you dont have any current standing, status, endorsement or
official acknowledged rank in the art of Serrada Escrima as taught
by these two gentlemen. Essentially, you are operating without a
license and therefore you are representing the art of Serrada
Escrima without official permission to do so. Additionally, in the
past you have been one of the primary people responsible for much of
the negative controversy that surrounds the art of Serrada Escrima.
Your pre-meditative acts of agitation within the arena of Serrada
Escrima will be tolerated no more by myself; nor by others who truly
do represent the pristine legacy of the late Great Grandmaster Angel
Cabales. I suggest that you re-read my " Declaration Of Independence
letter " recently published in the (FMAdigest Vol.3 No. 2, 2006
issue). I find it ironic that the only person who appears to be semi
negative and complaintive about the recent 2006 Angel Cabales
Commemoration Seminar/Banquet, is you. Also, I dont recall your
presence at this illustrious event. You constantly talk about
martial truth; but yet you have been the main instigator that has
spread outright "untruths" about several of GGM Angel Cabales'
private graduate instructors. Have you forgotten so quickly how
close you recently came to a highly possible major physical
altercation with the son of one of the people whom you have been co-
bashing in your former " Serrada Truth " campaigns?
It is obvious that everyone that attended our event put aside all of
their personal disgruntlements in order to recognize the founder of
the Cabales Serrada System of Escrima; Great Grandmaster Angel
Cabales. I suggest that you do the same thing. It's very admirable
that you have so much loyalty towards Mr. Vincent Cabales Sr. & Jr.,
however, by choice many of us within the Serrada Escrima community
do not share in your personal loyalty that you have toward these two
persons. I did not study Serrada Escrima under Mr. Vincent Cabales
Sr., and you did not study Serrada Escrima under GGM Angel Cabales
as I did, so obviously our loyalties are diametrically opposed. In
conclusion, I would suggest that if you plan to continue to
represent Mr. Vincent Cabales Sr.'s best interest, that you first
acquire some type of official rank under him, and also, his
permission to represent him as well. Finally, just as a suggestion,
you might want to allow Mr. Vincent Cabales Sr. to speak in his own
behalf for now on. As far as my stand concernig the " Grandmaster
title " again re-read my " Declaration Of Independence letter ". Mr.
Servaes until you have  acquired some type of legitimate
documentation of instructor rank in the art of Serrada Escrima, I
personally will not recognize you as an authentic agent or
representative of GGM Angel Cabales' art form. Mr. Servaes, you have
already caused enough trouble and damage within the world of Serrada
Escrima, dont you think that it is time that you desist from this
type of mischievous behavior?

Many of us martial artist have enjoyed chatting with our martial
arts friends on yahoo for quite some time some of us years in fact.
when yahoo took the user rooms down we had to find another place to
call home on yahoo chat. so we invaded the boxing room.this has
created many problems they are,porn bots trying to sale you
porn,disgrunteled boxers,people who dont respect others,people talkn
on mic who cant speak so people can understand them the list goes on
and on. there is a chat room on all yahoo groups this group also has
a chat alot of people didnt like to use it because it was java
based. that is in fact a miss conception and all of us old school
martial artist had our first meeting together on the chat tonight i
have put a robot in the room called mat responder as long as i am
alive it will be there except when we have computor problems etc..

Hello everyone. I was not aware of this group until a few days ago when my
brothers in the
art (Emanuel Hart and Cory Hanosh) mentioned it to me.

I have a small school with two locations (Knoxville, TN and Aliquippa, PA). I am
also one
small part of the Inayan Brotherhood of Eskrima which founded Inayan Systems
International after Suro Mike Inay passed away.

My goals are to spread Inayan Eskrima with integrity. And for those that may not
know,
Serrada in one of the three core styles that makes up Inayan Eskrima.

Once again, glad I found the group and thanks for letting me in...

Individually, I have been in contact with many people, some posers,
others have been legitimate in what they say and do.

Personally, I feel it would be a benefit to have a "mutual alliance"
in which every serrada escrima group could benefit along with their
individual members.

I nor GM Anthony have proposed attempting the dissolution of other
federations or associations in order to have 1 supreme organization.
We've all come too far for this to happen.  However, again here to a
alliance amoung the organizations could be a HUGE benefit for the
propogation of Serrada Escrima.

Certainly, within each organization there is protocol to be observed.

If the person who had made contact with me was indeed a "rogue" person
within your organization, this is unfortunate.  I personally, nor any
rerepresentative of the WSEF had solicited in anyway this contact.
Until we are drawn into conversation again by this indidvidual, we
would not have reason to consider the discussion again.

However, with that in mind, if I should be contacted again, I will

I do know that GM Anthony has expressed interest in communication with
GM Sultan Uddin.  If you are in a position to relay this, I'm sure GM
Anthony would be appreciative.

Guro Jeff,

As with other groups, there is a protocol in our
organization.  I made that clarification mostly in
response to PG Mike's comment about his discussion
with someone associated with our organization.
Apparently, it seems that the person PG Mike has been
in contact with is either a rogue or very loosely
associated with my teacher's organization, if that.
Just protecting the integrity of my teacher, his
organization and what we represent.

I do appreciate the recognition of our group's
accomplishments, creativity and talent.
