Sinawalli means "to weave" and Angel would point out that Serrada was
already a sinawalli pattern in its own right. However, he also had
his
own
way of doing sinawalli in the more familiar spinning pattern,
keeping
his
arms tight to his body and his hands low in front. He used his
wrists
rather than shoulders and elbows, keeping it tight and focused in
front.
The best "sinawalli destroyer" is Sonny Umpad's centerline roll.
It's
based
on the Wing Chun centerline punching blitz, and the sticks chamber
under the
opposite arm (right stick under the left and vice versa). With
this,
it
doesn't matter which hand you use to counter either hand of the
opponent.
FYI, Sonny incorporated a lot of Serrada in his single stick.
