Dear Mr. Demeter: Last year there was a Porshe rally that took over the City of Oxford. Could you tell me if that is true. I can't find anything in the festivals listing in Oxford if there is another such rally this year. If there is a Porshe rally this year could you e-mail me the dates and possibly any news events covering last years event. Thanks alot: Steve kosztala

Two in a Row for TIM

Now, no longer able to refer to himself as a "tarmac specialist" TIM driver and owner Paul Eddleston slithered his way to his second snowy victory this year in Detroit SCCA's RallyCross at Capac, Michigan. Held at the same venue and in similar conditions where he made the said declaration after a dismal performance, things turned out for the better this time. The course started out covered in snow with two tight 180 degree turns at each end of the field connected by sinewy, back and forth slaloms between them. The track soon revealed itself to have hidden ice patches under the snow and that the two 180s were the key to fast times, by taking them slow. By the afternoon, in the rising temperatures the course had developed a top layer of slimy mud on frozen dirt making it even trickier than the morning. One spin put Eddleston out of the overall top spot but he still retained the lead in M4 and 3rd overall behind Doug Harvey and Steve Baumbach.

I am planning the 2009 WOR Dinner/Dance Awards Banquet and I am looking for member input.

1. Where would you all like to have the banquet?
    a. Taj Garage
    b. Packard Museum
    c. Let Dave come up with something!

2. When do you want it?
    a. December
    b. January
    c. Whenever Dave wants to do it?

3. Are you willing to pay___?
    a. $25 a person
    b. $30 a person
    c. Does not matter as long as it is less than $40 a person

Several things to consider.
1. WOR's bank account is a little slim at the moment and if we don't have a successful year then the banquet will be a mute point.
2. The WOR board is working very hard to make this year a great year but in the end it takes you the participants to make it a successful year.

Finally if any one out there is interested in assisting me in the dinner/dance planning please let me know. 937-545-2995

Thanks,
Dave

TIM wins at Sno*Drift!

Not what you think but the team did score a victory at the Rally America event in the Sno-X held at the special stage venue. The Sno-x was a rally-x style event using the same course that the stage rally cars ran but without the full safety requirements. Kudos goes to the organizers of this new for 2009 event as they had very little preparation time and a narrow window in which to run the thing but we all had a great time. I mean, how many opportunities does one get to run a stage of a Rally America event?

Pictures by Kenneth Tsang Pictures by Kenneth Tsang Pictures by Kenneth Tsang

It was kind of appropriate that we won the sno-x but only coincidental that we sponsored the Super Special stage in conjunction with our new wheel supplier BRAID. The stage was a great hit with spectators who lined the rim of the bowl-like gravel pit to see the stage cars fly through the snow between the piles of frozen gravel.

Pastana likes his TIM stickerAs for the rest of the event we received a lot of attention for our new BRAID wheels at registration, Lewiston service area and the awards dinner and had a great time hanging out with the Rally America people too. As part of our sponsorship package we had our famous TIM stickers on every car entered in the event and as a result are now exposed to a much wider audience. This years event was blessed by much milder conditions than last year with temperatures in the upper 20s most of the time. Still, with a stiff breeze blowing through the Super Special gravel pit on Saturday appropriate clothing was the order of the day which is probably why Brian Line was so happy to win the TIM beanie by being the first person to drop in and say "WOW, these BRAID wheels are really cool. Now where's my free hat". Brian wasted no time hitting us up at registration on Thursday afternoon.

Can't wait for next year's event .

TIM off to Sno*Drift

It's that time of year again, the annual migration North to witness and join in the festivities surrounding the Sno*Drift rally. This year there's a twist though as we are sponsoring the super special stage on Saturday and competing in the new for 2009 Sno*Cross that accompanies it. We are using this opportunity to introduce our new line of European Competition wheels from BRAID and will have samples, pricing and brochures available all weekend. We will be at registration Thursday (Jan 29th) afternoon and evening, as well as Friday morning then in the Lewiston service area Thursday afternoon and evening. Saturday sees us at the super special stage area north of Lewiston all day then over at the awards dinner in Hillman.

No TIMAlba rally car in action this event as the crew is off having a baby (lame excuse) so the rallycross wagon, in it's new BRAID livery will have to carry the torch for us.

So please stop by and say "Hi". in fact, there's a free TIM beanie for the first person to drop in and say "WOW, these BRAID wheels are really cool. Now where's my free hat".

It is a takeoff on the Hnas.

It was introduced at the PRI and people who I know like it for some things and dislike it for other things.

As with all things of this nature, personal preference has a lot to do with it.

It is generally regarded as a good device from what I am told

FYI, for rule #7 below, studded tire equipped vehicles will not be scored for divisional points. This is to keep costs down for those of us who don't run the ice runs on a regular basis but want to come up for the Divisional.

Thanks,

Bob Martin

How smart is Your Right  Foot ? ?

Just try this. It is from an orthopedic  surgeon............

This will boggle your mind and you will keep  trying over and over again to see if
you can outsmart your foot, but  you can't. It's preprogrammed in your brain!

     1.  WITHOUT anyone  watching you (they will think you are  GOOFY......) and while
sitting where  you  are at your desk in front of your computer, lift your
right  foot
   off the floor and make
clockwise  circles.

2.  Now, while doing this, draw the number
"6"  in   the air with you right  hand.

   Your  foot will change direction.

I  told you so!!!

And  there's nothing you can do about it!

You and I both know how stupid it is, but before the day is  done you are
going to try it again, if you've not already done so ! !

Is there anyone out there who has replaced a WRX's uppipe gaskets?

Would you like to help me replace mine?

I am very frustrated and annoyed by how long it takes to replace anything on this car!

All-

Sorry to have to postpone the event, but Mother Nature hasn't cooperated with us again.  We tried to hold out and make a good decision and I think we made a good choice since we've had some disastrous conditions in the past year.  We are going to reschedule on Jan 10, so if you can't make it and have pre-paid let me know and I can get the refund started.  If you can make it, then you're all set.

Sorry again, but we have to play the hand we're dealt!  Have a safe and Happy Holidays and let's hope for some New Year's snow on the 10th!

Orion

Please note that it is best to preregister for OVR Events. It makes their events run more smoothly.

NOTE: There is a place for the RC Rental Car, ONLY for those competing for Year End Championship should be using the car. Arrangements are being made to have the Altimate their so those individuals can compete. We don't want to overburden Orion with more than four people in the car.

The preregistration fee is minus the fee for the rental car, that will have to be paid to Dave Rudy at the event.

So come one, come all and lets party.
Dave Rudy
WOR Rally Chair
