POSTPONED.

The Ohio Forest Rally, a Monte-Carlo style road-rally covering the historic
Sunriser 400 stages and a preview of the upcoming Southern Ohio Forest Rally
Rally America event, has been postponed from its original date of 10/17/09.
Instead, the event will run 12/5/9 over the same route. Due to the time of
sunset at that time of year, the stages will be run outbound in the last of the
daylight and inbound after dark.
So all of you who have been pining for rally lights, now's the time to justify
them!

Hey, who are you callin' a HO! ;)
I'll have to check that out, I haven't received the mag yet, my NASA membership
must have lapsed. Can one of you guys save that mag for me?
Boy o boy, we have a hell of a fight on our hands this year at LSPR. Chad
Eixenberger was the Central Region Group 2 champ in 2007. I took his title in
2008, and he wants it back bad. We are both gonna throw down at LSPR 2009.
Keep a close eye on the battle between the two of us, its gonna be good, I
promise.

The ESRX Championship Event was held last weekend at National Trail Raceway in Hebron, Ohio and hosted by OVR.
There was a mix of very long and quick courses to short and technical courses with competition spanning two days. There was some great driving displayed by all and some very close inter-class battles. It was great fun and nice to see some of the National Competitors make the trek.
Thanks to those who attended as well as those who organized and put on the event.
WOR had 10 competitors out of the over 50 attending. Not just local competition! (there were also comptetitors from Colorado, Alabama and DC Area).
The problem is when I logged on it copied my address book and send a message to everyone. I don't know if it did it automatically or I unintentionally clicked something.
Just FYI that I don't do things like that and send people invites to stuff like that.

I am telling anyone and everyone that Studio 35 is airing the Formula One European GP on August 23rd. This is a movie theater that shows the Speed Channel live coverage on the BIG screen. They also have beer. It is always a good time, so check your schedule and plan to be there if you are interested. The more people that attend, the better odds they will continue to show F1. Thanks for the forward. These events are a lot of fun. It's a blast to be running not just against the clock but also against another car. The fact that it is mixed-surface also adds to the excitement.

In surprisingly the first outing on dirt this year for TIM driver Paul Eddleston he came out on top this past weekend in the Modified all wheel drive class despite the presence of ace RallyCross exponent Scott Harvey. The event, the fifth of the Detroit Region's RallyCross championship, was held at the Crystal Motor Speedway on a grass surface that quickly turned to dirt. The trick seemed to be to stick to a tight line and use as much of the remaining grassy areas as possible as that's where the grip was. As usual, missing cones was key and unusually for him Eddleston only hit one all day.
Surprisingly, the M4 win was blown away by the times set by Nathan Usher in is Prepared all wheel drive WRX wagon who now threatens to move up to M4 later in the season. God help us when he does.
June 24th, 2009
SuperRally-X
After a quiet start to the season Team Illuminata driver and owner Paul Eddleston both promoted and competed in the recent season opener of the new for 2008 SuperRally-X series in Clio, Michigan. SuperRally-X is a relatively new form of motorsport which combines the thrills of Euro style RallyCross with the relative safety of US style RallyCross in a two car pursuit format similar to a WRC Super Special, Race of Champions or X-Games Rally. Conducted on a 25% dirt, 75% paved course, cars start of at half a lap apart and chase each other over the course of a lap or two. First car back to their start position wins. Often and event will consist of timed heats with the fastest 8 drivers going head to head in a knockout competition to determine the overall winner.
The timed heats went off without much trouble, proving the timing system we had come up with and producing eight qualifiers for the final knockout rounds. Eddleston, running on R compound autocross tires, essentially very soft slicks, managed to make the finals much to the surprise of the other, non-R compound shop competitors. "In Europe, where they do this sort of thing a lot" explained Eddleston "they set up the car for the predominant tarmac and take it easy on the dirt. I was actually surprised how much grip I had on the dirt section. The car was surprisingly driveable and I probably could have gone faster if I'd had more confidence in them."
Eddleston survived the first round but was knocked out in the semi final by Jon Armstrong in his Honda Civic who went on to finish second to Justin Kollien in his STi. Full results can be found at the event web site along with photos and videos. A great start to the series the next event is on August 9th.

You are to follow the route instructions. In addition, you will need to find answers to questions that will be found along the course. The answers will be out of order. Points will be given for each question you answer correctly. There will be Bonus questions for extra hard signs and also a tie breaker. High score wins.
Registration
Registration will be from 10:00am to 10:50am at the Greene Shopping Mall in the parking lot directly behind The Pub (39 Greene Blvd.) Beavercreek, Ohio. There will be a short drivers meeting at 10:55am with the first car to depart at 11:01 pm.
You will be given a set of route instructions when you register. These instructions
will enable you to follow the course without getting lost. The route instructions are to be executed in order. Don’t skip any. Don’t do any twice. If you get lost, go back to the last instruction you know you executed correctly to get back on course. You will have 3 hours to complete the course.

The time has come for the Altima to leave the nest.
For sale is the black Nissan Altima that we've been using for WOR Rallycross
rental. If you've ever wanted a Rallycross car you aren't afraid to scratch,
this is your car.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGDEYjfEkA8
Specifications:
Base Engine Size: 2.4 liters Horsepower: 150 hp Torque: 154 ft-lbs.
http://www.edmunds.com/used/1993/nissan/al...35/options.html
Edmunds.com dealer retail $1,167. Ha Ha Ha.
Actual asking price:$300, mildly firm.
The car has had a rough life. It spent about 13 years in service as an
Oakwood grocery-getter. In the fall of 2006 a large tree branch fell on it
breaking the rear window and putting a couple of dents in the roof and rear
fender. The car sat outside, uncovered for about 6 months until it was
liberated to be a rallycross car.
Known mechanical issues:
- When we first started running the car it would leak oil. Over the course
of an event it would loose 1 or 2 quarts. We put some stop leak in it about
2 years ago and it really hasn't leaked oil since then. No idea why not.
- Sometimes it goes low on power. Possibly the 'computer' gets angry about
the car being abused? At first we thought it was the transmission just
refusing to downshift. But turning the car off and back on makes the problem
go away. It doesn't happen often.
- The car is a rusty hunk of junk.
Other things that might matter:
- The car has no rear window
- The car has no carpet
- The car has no rear seat
- The air conditioning does not work
- The car is insanely dirty inside
- Tires are pretty...tired
- Wipers are down to bare metal
- Street legal, the things that matter work, it's just not registered or
insured
- It does have a relatively new exhaust on it, Borla I think. OEM style,
nothing fancy, but nice if you happen to have a 93 -Altima that needs an
exhaust.
- Obviously it is sold as is where is.
If you've seen the car run you know it can make decent times and it's a lot
of fun to drive. I have not started the car this year (or even seen it). I'm
not going to drive all the way out there just to see it start. If you want
to buy it and we can't get it to start or there is a big hole in the block,
then we can deal with it then. You're also welcome to go take a look
yourself. Take some jumper cables. Do not drive it on the street, it is not
registered or insured.
I do have a trailer and I will tow it a reasonable distance for gas money
and a couple of beers.

OK, so it's two weeks out and we have 11 entries. Not bad for this time of year but we need 16 to cover costs and 20 would be nice especially as we have pay on the day so maybe not everyone who signed up will come anyway. So please start promoting this amongst your various groups so we can all have a fun day out in two weeks. http://www.myautoevents.com/pls/mae/frmEventDetail.Show?psevent_id=10443
Oh, by the way, that rally car is a Mk2 escort, fully prepped and ready to run, just happens to be 1/18th scale though. There will be a pound of Drakes Fine coffee for second place as well and I am working on a sponsor or two to provide some series prizes at the end of the year.
I'm also working on deal for some neck supports for the event. Hoping to keep them under $40. Let me know if you need one and your size so I can get quotes etc.

Sorry for not communicating sooner but I have been out of the country for the best part of 2009 and have been unable to get my head round SuperRally-X or much else for that matter. Not to fear , I'm back and we are going to put together something for the rest of the year with the season opener being on June 21st now. In fact, here is the revised schedule:
June 21st Aug 9th Sept 20th Oct 18th Nov 8th
All events at AutoCity in Clio, MI
There is no SuperMoto spectator event like last year so we will just be having a series of low key, grass roots events with an overall winner. Prizes possibly too if we can find a bit of sponsorship. As per last years "practice" events any car in safe mechanical condition is welcome but we require at least six other motorsport events under your belt. No trucks or SUVs of course. No exposed skin and a neck collar is also required. Otherwise pretty much the same as RallyCross, Autocross or track day events. A format of timed heats to determine a top eight who will run head to head for the final positions so everyone should get plenty of seat time.
For the first event we may venture into a new area of dirt outside the oval track. This area is less susceptible to wet weather and may prove a better choice than the infield. Again, we can try it out and see. Registration is now open on MyAutoEvents. com.
Christian and Mike,
Please put this flyer in the Rev and on the web site.
Thanks,Dan

Steel Cities Region, SCCA will host the SCR 24 Hour Rally on Saturday/Sunday June 13/14. The SCR 24 will actually be comprised of two SCCA National rallies. The first rally starts at noon Saturday near the Pittsburgh Airport, and finishes around 11pm in Winchester, Virginia. The second rally begins at midnight, and finshes back in Pittsburgh at noon Sunday.
The route will take competitors through western Pennsylvania, southeast Ohio, West Virginia, western Maryland and northern Virginia. There should be some great roads, and it should be an interesting adventure.
So mount up the driving lights, and come play in the woods!
Entry information is available on the SCR-SCCA website.
I regret doing this but due to lack of pre-entries, and the projection of future entries for this event, the WOR SCCA board has decided it is best to cancel this event versus taking a large loss. Being the small region WOR is any financial loss can be detrimental to the club.
Refunds for those already registered will be made as soon as possible.
