Hi Group
I contacted our clothing salesperson, she is sending me sample's of
Triathlete Uniforms (everything). We have been purchasing clothing
from Louis Garneu Inc. for the last several years and always found
there clothing to be of the highest quiality. If you would like to
see it, touch it, try it on, come to the USI Meeting on 9/22 7:30pm
at High Caliper Bicycle Shop at 169 Mamaroneck Ave in White Plains.

If you are not interested in group spinning classes (or have your
own classes), please respond to the first spinning question. There
is an option for "not interested" and we'd like to know the interest
level of the entire group, if possible.
Polls will be open until October 4th.
A few very important polls have been added to the "polls" section of
the eGroup. Please take a couple minutes to answer them over the
next couple weeks so we can begin to plan future events for the
groups.
All votes are confidential and results will be reported to the group
when the polls are concluded.
Thanks!

WCCTriathlon group:
For those of you interested in the

however, before we approach the club,

Classes would be help 2 times each

The photos of the Westchester Classic are now posted in the Yahoo site. Please open the album to see them. If you think they are somewhat scrambled, blame Yahoo, not me.
I've added "Bike Racing" to the data base so you can post your results. If you do it not later than tomorrow they'll be posted in the October newsletter.

Tour de Greenwich
This is the 17th running of a popular 20-mile bike race on roads we all know. For registration and information go to
www.threadsandtreads.com. The race has staggered heats according to declared ability and you must indicate on the registration form the estimated time it'll take you to complete the race. Greenwich High is the start and finish point of the race.
On Saturday September 6 I'll be leading a 7:30 AM 40-mile all-level get-acquainted-with-the-course ride. Please check the ride schedule for details.
Hi All,
Has anyone on the list had bunion surgery?
I just had it on Tuesday (right foot). Recovery seems steady, but slow. I'm
wondering when I'll be able to drive, swim, bike and eventually run.
Anyone have any experiences, advice or tips to share for a speedy recovery?
I completed my first triathlon at Harriman on Sunday and am anxiously
awaiting recovery so I can start training again. It was such a fun
experience! Thanks to my WCC Supporters, Frank Grasso and Irwin Sheer, and
my race partner, Susan Chan. You all inspired me and kept me going!
Hope to see you everyone again soon.

As most of you know, this is the first year Westchester
Cycle Club has created groups for specific riding disciplines. Since this is
the first year we want to make sure everyone in the du/tri and distance groups
have the tools, resources and rides they need to achieve their individual riding
goals.
We have a small group of members who are dedicated to
seeing these efforts deliver the needs of all group members. The du/tri committee
members are John Cool, Irwin Sheer and Frank
Grasso and the distance committee members are Steve Cornell, Tom Nee, Rich
Ruge and Richie Kondzielaski. This group meets on a regular basis to decide on
the activities to develop. As you can imagine, we have a lot of decisions to
make each time we meet. We have been actively gathering input “in the
field” on our rides, but obviously do not see everyone each month.
Before we brainstorm new ideas to enhance the groups during
our September meeting, we really would like everyone’s input. As you
think about your plans for off season and goals for next season please contact me
or one of the committee members to let us know what you would like to see offered
by your fellow eGroup members. All ideas are welcome. We’ll continue to keep
the group posted as to the direction we’ll be taking and solicit feedback
via the “polls” option on the eGroups or through emails such as
this one. The email addresses for the committee members are located in the “members”
section of the eGroups.
If anyone is interested in getting more involved and would
like to help plan and execute the future activities for the groups, please let
me know. We like to keep the training committee to a small, yet very dedicated
group of individuals, but are always looking for people who want to and can help
out.
Thanks for everyone’s participation and dedication to
the groups and Westchester Cycle Club.
I've updated the results section to report "age placement" rather
than "overall placement." The new file has replaced the previous
version in the files section (same path as below).
Thanks to John Cool for the suggestion.

Subject: Important Update: Yahoo! Groups Service Changes
*** PLEASE DO NOT REPLY TO THIS EMAIL ***
Dear Yahoo! Groups Moderator,
Important update: The new date for service changes is August 21, 2003.
You are receiving this notice because you are a moderator of one or more
groups. Previously, we emailed you about upcoming service changes to Yahoo!
Groups. To give you more time to manage your files, we have pushed back the
date of these changes to August 21, 2003.
To continue offering you a high quality, free service, Yahoo! Groups is
making
the following changes:
Message Attachments:
Email attachments will no longer be archived in the Messages area, although
Yahoo! Groups will continue to deliver attachments sent by email. On August
21st, all attachments in the Messages area will be removed, and Yahoo! will
be
unable to retrieve the data. Please note: All of your group messages will
remain. Only the attachments will be deleted.
Before August 21st, if you want to preserve them, you must move your old
message attachments. To do so, go to the Messages area and click on "Expand
Messages." This lets you view many attachments on one page so you can
download
them easily. Then you can upload them to the Files and Photos areas in your
groups. The Files and Photos features will allow you to better organize your
email attachments.
Files and Photos:
You will now need a web membership to access a group's Files and Photos
areas.
To make sure you have web memberships to all of your groups, please visit
this
page: http://groups.yahoo.com/memwiz
Add Members:
Although there is no membership limit for your group, we are changing the
Add
Members feature so you can add only 10 new members each day. You can
continue
to use the Invite Members feature to invite as many people to your group as
you
wish.
For more details on the service changes described above, please visit our
help
section http://help.yahoo.com/groups/groups-56.html.
We hope you will pass this notice along to your group's members so they are
aware of the changes. Thank you for your support as we continue to improve
Yahoo! Groups.
Sincerely,
The Yahoo! Groups Team

This has been experimentally verified! I managed to knock 8 minutes
off of my bike split from last year. Not all of it was the aerobars
but I'm sure that they had a significant effect...

congratulations to all participants, especially so to first-timer duathlete Susan Chan and first-timer triathlete
Caryn Rossi-Louie who acquitted themselves quite well. Not to speak of Flori who, on her second attempt, managed to snatch a first-place award (it must be all those Monday evening rides). There are more pictures coming up. What you see is all the system allowed me to upload before fizzling out.
Please add your du/tri accomplishments to the database section by
Wednesday 8/13 for newsletter publication.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks!
The TRRC biathlon Sunday was a fun event (3 mi run, .5 mi swim). WCC members Robin Winter got 2nd pl age grp & Art Breuer also 2nd (of 2). Did an informal 20 mi bike ride afterward make it a Tri?
Thanks for the advice. I hooked up with TRRC on Saturday and there were
about 40 people out even though it was raining. I was told that this was a
moderate showing. The way the run works, out and back makes it easy to
run the distance you want and with this many people it is easy to find
someone running at your pace. Having water on the route is great as
figuring out hydration for a long run can be challenging.

I just got back from Greenwich point, planning on doing a practice
swim before Sunday. The water is closed because of bacterial
contamination. Threads and treads was clueless, didn't even know it
had happened. They finally decided they will do a run-bike-run if it
is still closed.
The town of Greenwich beach closure hotline is 203-622-7855.
I decided that any water that may or may be too poluted to swim in
is water i dont want to swim in even if it is open. Will do Harriman
or West Point.
My coach, for bike racing, says that you can never eat too much before a race...the chances of bonking are much greater. Hydrate very well for the 24 hours before and in the morning drink until your pee is clear. Eat your usual dinner and breakfast (2 hrs before) and 10 minutes before the start drink 12 oz of carbo drink and eat a bar.
