Hello,
The last time I went biking was about 7 years ago. The last time I
went swimming was last summer. I have not been jogging much because
of the cold weather. I have never tried a biathlon or triathlon
before. Do they have events for beginners or for people who are
trying to get back into shape (shorter distances)?

Actually all races could be for beginners. It is the nature of the sport. Pawling Tri is a great first race. Some races have a first timers wave for the swim start.
There is a duathlon this weekend in Central Park called March madness. Weather predictions are not looking good for race day.
