Vizslas are very intelligent, loving and energetic dogs. They are natural
hunters and love to run and exercise. I have 4 males and 1 female remaining. I
am only looking to cover my vet bills. It's my priority to get these adorable
puppies good homes. Please either email or call my cell @914-424-6208. I will be

I'm looking for people who know the cue sheets and routes in the Lee, Mass.
area.
(Great Barrington/Stockbridge/Lee/ Lennox, Pittsfield)
I see that the WCC library already has several cue sheets from Sunset Motel in
Lee.
I'd like recommendations for the best routes/cue sheets to follow? (Scenic,
quiet...) Please contact me at: 914-831-5616. Much appreciated! Ave
PS I'm already aware of the Alice Restaurant 60+ mile route.
Hadn't thought of the glove. (Any tissue I carried would just be a soggy sweaty
lump.)
On other idea, if you have a slice in your tire, a dollar bill liner between the
tube and the tire will often hold you until you can get to a repair shop. It
won't tear or push through.
Avoid bloodshed...try removing your glove
and using it (or a tissue) to swipe the inside of the tire, when eyesight fails
you. It will snag on the object just as well as your own flesh.

Punctured tire?
Thanks,
Gus. Next time I get a flat in the dark I will remember
this. :-) When I was at home yesterday during the day, I took the
additional precaution of hosing out the interior of the tire in case
of any debris lodged there, then dried it before installing the tube.

Susan,
The other thing to do when getting a puncture...gently run your fingers through
the inside of the tire. This will usually tell you - ouch! - if you have
anything sharp that will flat your new tube. Remove the object before you mount
the new tube.

A friend signed up for the ride and is now unable to do it. He is willing to
give his package (bib, info) to anyone who will use it. No charge - just be able
to pick up the package from him - location to be arranged near Yorktown or
Ossining. If you are interested send Roy an email at roybyrd@...
By now, I assume that all of you who are planning on joining WCC at the
Lancaster Covered Bridge Metric Century in July have made your reservations at
the hotel. If for some reason you are interested, but have no idea what I am
referring to, drop me an e-mail and I will fill you in.
Phase two: we are going to try to set up group eating events both Saturday and
Sunday night. On Saturday, we will try to have dinner at a real Amish Home.
Before I try to get reservations and other details, I will need a number of
"diners" to provide.
So:
If you are coming, and want to have dinner with the group, please e-mail me
DIRECTLY: seehuntny@....
I will need to know if it is for Saturday, Sunday, or BOTH nights.
I will need the number in your Party.
As usual, we will have a PRE, and possibly a POST dinner cocktail party both
nights as well. I will send details on that much later.
We will also have rides posted for both Saturday and Monday. Larry Schwartz is
coordinating the routes for the B riders. Since there may be others of different
ride levels who wish to ride, please let me know if you are willing to be a ride
leader for the slower or faster groups. Larry and I will help you find suitable
route sheets for any desired distance.

Thanks, guys. That agrees with what I found on the web. My first

If the tire's in decent enough shape and nothing is poking through, it should be fine. As a little insurance you can put a patch (like you use on a tube) on the inside of the tire as a little extra reinforcement.
Hi all,
Yesterday in Boston I had a lovely ride, marred only by not one, but
two flat tires one after the other in the dark. Since I changed the
first tube in the dark, I couldn't see what caused the puncture. The
second flat was close enough to the car that I made it without
changing the tube.
This morning, when I went to investigate and repair, I found a metal
staple-like thing embedded in the tire. It clearly caused both
punctures. I removed it, and the holes it left are pretty small, but
I'm wondering - should I be thinking about replacing the tire as well
as the tube?
Thanks,
Susan
Not to barge in to this, but all I'm gonna say is that drivers here are impatient, hostile and aggressive on a level that you just won't find in Massachusetts. I've never experienced a motorist try to run me off the road on a group ride in Massachusetts, but I have here. Zero respect for the 3 foot rule. We need a comprehensive bicycle law here at least as bad as Massachusetts did.

I'll be riding from White Plains, to catch the 8:10AM train from
Tarrytown to Cold Spring for the ride on Saturday. Anyone headed the
same way feel like fighting the Rt119 traffic with me?
Maybe that's one reason for the activism :-). At the same time, I've seen a *lot* more hostility toward cyclists here in Westchester than when I lived in Boston - and much less bike-friendly roads.

One thing I like about MassBike is that they are so proactive with
their email newsletters, and that you don't have to be a member to
receive them. It makes activism/information much more likely. I look
forward to my visit to Boston this weekend!

I am posting this for David Kliger. Having a local race would be a lot of fun, but it needs a coordinator. I can't do it either, but maybe a WCC member could.
The town of Port Chester has approached Cafeteros (local racing club) through Jeff Knisely about putting on a crit for Columbus day. Cafeteros is willing to be a major help in terms of planning and volunteers but they lack a major essential ingredient, one person to take on the responsibility of leading the effort.
Tom Coleman already is very involved with the Tokeneke race and does a tremendous amount of work for Cafeteros. Mark Lalloo is willing to help but does not want to be the major player. Do you know of anyone in USI or outside of USI who would be willing to take on this project? If you do please contact me at: pmdk1@optonline.net

If you get a folding bike, I really like mine which is a Dahon MU-P8. It doesn't have the front stability of a regular bike (requires extra balance going up steep hills), but it's fun and very zippy to ride.
