For what it’s worth, I drove by the Bedford deli last Sunday with Chris Jones, and I can confirm that it was shut tight.
Two weeks before that on Mary Schumann’s ride we did just what you suggested, rode on about a mile south and stopped at the super market/small shopping center (south on 22/172). However, I’m not sure what the rest stop availability is there.
This is an active issue, since I understand that the C+ & B July 1st rides this weekend both have a stop in Bedford.
Anyone else have any more specific info?

rest stop
I've never seen the Village Green Deli open on a Sunday, or the Saturday of a holiday weekend (at least in recent years). There's a Food Emporium about a mile south/west on 172 (22). and a Shell station at the intersection of 172 and 22. Less than ideal but better than nothing. Hope someone else has a better idea.

Gail,
The deli you're thinking of is Stewart's Market on Court Street. I
led a ride though there last Saturday and it's all closed up - white
sheets on the windows...even the cat is gone. Go around the corner
back out on Route 22 towards the Village Green and you'll see the
Village Green Deli on the left on the same side as the library and
firehouse. I'm not sure if they're open on Sunday but I
would imagine so.
