If I might take a different direction here...
There might not be anything wrong with your front wheel; high speed wobble is not all that uncommon to occur in road bikes. What causes the bike to wobble, madly at times, can be a host of reasons, leading up to rider themselves being the problem. Certainly the wheel being out of true could be the cause, but it's likely you would notice that problem at slower speeds too. You didn't mention that in your email so I'm thinking it's not the root to your problem. But there's certainly no harm in having your bike looked at by your shop. Here's what you do if it ever happens again: go into a coast, position your feet and pedals at the 3 and 9 o'clock position and press both your knees firmly against the bike's top tube, the shuddering will stop. It's as simple as that. Check to make sure your tire pressure is up and that your wheels are properly seated in their dropouts too.
The wobble can be caused by rider tension which isn't too difficult to consider when one is hurtling down some hillside at neck-breaking speed, concerned about ice or pot holes and such. Add to that scene a gusty day and the rider is straining to keep the bike seemingly under control and is instead sending a signal through the frame that causes it to wobble. Try to relax and remember to use your knees if it ever presents itself again.

Subject: [WCCChat] Front Wheel Wobble
Has anyone experienced a serious case of front wheel wobble while at
high speed (usually downhill)? And if so, have you found a fix to the
problem?
Thanks,
Wayne
