Message: 2006 FALL FOLIAGE BIKE TOUR of HUDSON VALLEY
Casual to experienced bicyclists are invited to ride in the 17th
Annual Fall
Foliage Bike Tour on Sunday October 8th at Brotherhood Winery in
Washingtonville. The ride is a benefit for two non-profit
organizations:
McQuade Children's Services, caring for special needs children, and
Orange
Pathways, developing multi-recreational trails in Orange County.
The tour provides cyclists with a choice of a 50, 40, 25, 15 or 10-
mile route
through the beautiful Hudson River Valley.* The 50-mile ride climbs
along the
Hudson River to West Point and back, while the less strenuous tours
go through
picturesque byways at the foot of the Schunnemunk Mountain Range,
passing by
farmlands, estates, historic sites, the Orrs Mill Rail Trestle, and
more. *a
children's 10 mile "Tyke Trail" departs from the historic Chester
Rail Road
Station on Route 94 in Chester and is on a designated bike path.
Food stops are at key points along the routes, providing water,
bagels and fresh
fruits.
Cyclists are advised to time their morning departure to arrive back
at the
Winery for a luncheon party (12 Noon-2pm) catered by Loughran's
Restaurant.
Those registering can also choose to make a donation to the Bennett
Bike Fund, a
fund which enables McQuade to purchase bicycles for children whose
families
cannot afford them.
