FOCUS ON THE SOUND EVENT IN NEW ROCHELLE
July 16th, 6:00 – 9:00 PM, Sydney E. Frank Skate Park

"(New Rochelle) FOCUS on the Sound" is scheduled to take place on the evening of
Thursday, July 16th, from 6 to 9pm at Sydney E. Frank Skate Park. "FOCUS on the
Sound" is being cosponsored by Metro Bicycles and will showcase live
entertainment, featuring DJ Mikey Palms (spinning throughout the night) and
World-Record holding mountain biker Jeff Lenosky, whose alternative biking feats
both on and off the ground have earned him respect –and fans- worldwide. Jeff
will be performing his air show: a combination of freestyle biking and highly
choreographed tricks. Jeff is featured in the July issue of Sports Illustrated
for Kids. Live music and video screenings will be held throughout the night,
promoting the prevention messages. This multimedia event is designed to raise
summertime awareness of the dangers of underage drinking by providing an
alcohol-free recreational alternative.

This event is the first of its kind from FOCUS. The intent is that it will
become an annual fixture in New Rochelle's summertime event calendar. New
Rochelle FOCUS (Families Organized to Curb the Use of Substances) is a coalition
of parents, schools, police, businesses, clergy, civic and municipal leaders,
health providers and youth serving agencies concerned about preventing and
reducing underage drinking and substance abuse. It is funded by a grant from
the federal Center for Substance Abuse Prevention.
