To WCC list members,
I hope this is not a total breach of etiquette but it is for a good cause so here goes...
I am going to ride the Tour de Wagner again this year (see the blurb below). It is a three day benefit ride for Special Olympics. For those of you that I know, I hope you will consider giving a contribution on my behalf (if Kevan hasn't tapped you already). If perchance we have not met, I would encourage you to make a contribution anyway. The organization is worthy and does very good work (and my fundraising skills are meager and the deadline is coming).
Thanks for reading - see you on the road,
Lloyd

I want to share with you something that I plan on doing and hope I can count on your support in making this a great success for everyone.
I am going to ride in the Bresnan TdW this June 10-12, 2005. It is a 200 mile bike tour from Putnam County to the outskirts of Bennington, Vermont. It is a wonderful event which has raised nearly two million dollars to benefit Westchester ARC and Special Olympics New York- Hudson Valley Region over the years. These two organizations provide programs and services to thousands of individuals with developmental disabilities who reside in our local communities.
Last year I got to ride in this tour without having to do any fund raising because I took the place of someone who had been injured (Mike Primavera) and had to withdraw. This is the first event that I have participated in that requires fundraising and it will be the last one I hit you up for this year!
I am committed to raise a minimum of $2,000 and I am asking your support. Any pledge amount you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Your donation is tax deductible. This will all benefit two outstanding organizations and the people they serve.
During the preparation for this ride I have met with the sponsors and staff and I have seen the results of the work that they do. I love to ride and I am happy that simply by riding (and fundraising) I can do something positive for Special Olympics.
You can support my cause by either clicking this link to donate online with a major credit card, or you can mail me a check payable to: Special Olympics New York - Hudson Valley. I will forward my pledges as I receive them. My home address is 223 South Greeley Ave. Chappaqua, NY 10514.
I want to thank you for sharing this experience with me! Although I will be the one riding the bike, your support and confidence will be motivational and inspiring as we hopefully do something to make life a little better for some deserving people.
