I will be there as well. Don't want to repeat last Thursday. Radar
looks good for no rain. Looks like the bad stuff will stay south of
us.

Hello, this is Sung. I haven't posted in awhile - hope you're having a
great riding season. Anyone interested in riding Bear Mt. tomorrow
(4/25)? I'll be riding the race course, preparing for the upcoming
race in May. Easy to moderate A pace to check out the course and take
mental notes. 8am start. Ride course twice. cell: 914-844-
7818.
I had a similar pre-season error last week - i forgot my shorts -)
We're a farewell to colleague on Thursday.
Next week

Looks like I can't make it. I drove to work today, and while I
brought my bike, I forgot my shoes, and possibly helmet. I thought it
might rain tonight, and it still might. But just having remembered I
forgot my shoes, not much I can do about that now. So I won't make it
today. See everyone Thursday.

The Tuesday and Thursday night training rides start again this month
since Daylight Savings Time is in effect. These training rides are a
great way to improve your fitness, hill climbing and speed. We work
on all three on the ride. All riders are welcome, but remember, you
have to want to improve your riding and be motivated to ride as hard
as you can. This is not an easy ride. You must be at least a strong
B+ rider to consider attempting this ride.
These training rides are different from a standard WCC ride in several
ways. First, it is the same route every week (with the only
variations being determined by daylight). Second, we do not provide
cue sheets. Third, slower riders will be dropped after a while, but
we try to keep the group together as long as possible. We may even
push you up a hill if you are really trying to stay on. The clue to
this ride, and improving your riding abilities, is to come out every
week, and to give it all you got. You will get better
This year we are listing both the Tuesday and Thursday night rides.
They are the same ride, but generally Tuesday is harder, but it
depends on the group. Thursday is more tempo riding, but still hard.
If you are not sure of your ability, try Thursday. If you can do
both, you should, as riding twice a week will get you in shape faster
than once a week.
The first ride will be March 11th, and will not do Whippoorwill so we
can get a feel for the light. The rest of the March rides will
shortcut the second half of Whippoorwill so we can get back by dark.
Another tip is to come out early this spring. Everyone is out of
shape from the winter, so it is easier to keep up on the shorter rides.
The mileage varies from 20 to 56 miles depending on the daylight, but
the ride is always back by dark (assuming no mechanical issues). Even
so, you should always have a taillight and we recommend a front
blinker as well.
We leave the Waller Ave parking lot (between Post Rd and Maple Ave) in
White Plains at 6pm sharp. If you are running late, try parking at
the Stop and Shop on Rt 22 in North White Plains and meet us on the
road. If you park at the Waller Ave lot, you must feed the meters, as
they are 24 hours, or find free parking further south on Waller Ave.

A group of A riders will be leaving on a century ride from the
registration area between 7:45 and 8 o'clock. If anyone is interested
in joining us please let me know.
Joe
Greetings,
3 people have said they want to do the 125 miles next Sunday.
We are planning on meeting at 7, and going about 17 - 18 with the
group we have now.
Reply if you would like to join us.

WCC Triathletes,
I had a nice chat today at the Tour de PUtnam with Val Hickman,
executive director of the Putnam Visitors Bureau. She wants to hold a
triathlon in Putnam, but doesn't know much about hosting one. I told
her I'd help her out. Is there anyone out there who knows abou the
triathlon scene or can refer me to people who can help? Thanks!
David

What is the date? And what is #30? I am sure I could look it up, but I'm
lazy.

"105 miles. Hors categorie. If you don't have at least a 39/25 or
equivalent low gear, don' brother reading further. It's my biannual
route that includes the "best" climbs in the area, ridden at the
hottest time of the year. Cue sheets, regrouping after every hill, and
two deli stops. Those who fancy themselves as climbers must test their
mettle on these climbs or give up their small chainring. Meet: #30 at
8:00am Leader Nate Morgenstern"
Sadly I can't make the ride this year, but it was worth the trip last
time.

Hi Aaron,
Hope all is good with you -- new chain & new cassette is always a happy time;
almost feels like a new bike!? I am in New Hampshire for the Mt Washington
practice ride (what, am I nuts?!).? Been doing a bunch of racing, so most of my
rides have been either training or races this season. It's a really different
kind of riding, and I really have a lot to learn, but I like it quite a bit, so
far...
The racing season winds down around Labor Day -- maybe I'll see you in
September...
