accomplished long distance rider and has done the WCC double century
for serveral years in a row. He is a fast rider and a good climber. His

A Challenge of the Grimpeurs

105 mi. Hilly With Extreme Grades. If you don't have at least a 39/25
or equivalent low gear, don't bother reading further. Although I've been
leading this one on alternating years and I led it last year, the
masochists amongst you are in luck. It's the route that searches out the
"best" climbs in the area, combining parts of my old "This is Kain, Are
You Able" and short-lived "Move Over Alpe d'Huez" routes and must be
ridden at the hottest time of year. Excellent cue sheets, of course we
regroup after each climb, and we have two planned deli stops. Anyone
who fancies themself a climber must test their mettle on these hills or

Note: Meeting location #30 is the Market Basket/Franklin Lakes
Shopping Center parking lot in Franklin Lakes, NJ at the corner of
Franklin Lakes Rd and High Mountain Rd. From the Tappan Zee, take I-
287 west/south to NJ 208 south to first exit, i.e. stay in entrance lane onto
208 to immediate exit. Left at stop sign onto High Mt Rd. Thru 1st
blinking light. Right into lot before 2nd blinking lightt/circle, and
immediate left to park on left facing Hi Mt Rd. Departure is 15 minutes
after meet time.
