James Montaine is a Cardinal based in Colorado, moving soon to Kentucky. He hasn't been able to play with us the past couple of years due to a hip that needs replacement. His rugby friends from around the country have responded by raising funds to allow him to get that replacement. He is in the final week before the surgery is to be performed and is still short on necessary funds.

 

I have been impressed by the organization created to help James. It is being led by Jean Johnson. Several of us have spoken to Jean and have confidence that this endeavor is well conceived and organized. As I indicated, this is a well thought out fundraising undertaking. Although I think it is a good cause, I have been very reluctant to send this request out to the Cardinals. I know that every one of us has other good causes and charitable options. I discussed it with the other board members this fall and we decided to share James' need with the Cardinals.

 

I will be sending out an email about Lauderdale between now and Monday. I will only send it to those Cardinals who have indicated an interest in making that trip. If you would like to be included then please contact me directly at MDPuopolo@....
