OLD BOYS WEEKEND
The 1OTH ANNUAL Vail Old BoysFest was held this past Saturday. Vail
Old Boys combined with the Washington Poltroons to play a round-
robin event against Boulder RFC and Fred Alexander's CSOB's
(Colorado Senior Old Boys). It was not a good day for the
VailTroons. We were trounced 34-17 by Boulder. Boulder was the
same guys we played 20 years ago. It seems like nobody leaves
Boulder (although we hear Rocco did this year). The game was lost
in the early minutes due a tremendous swing in momentum. VailTroons
forwards set up an easy try to flyhalf Cameron Turner, however,
Turner playing in his first Old Boys match is already showing sign
of Alzheimers as instead of touching the ball down for a try and
early lead, Turner (Game 1 Goat) ran through the dead zone.
The second game versus the CSOB's was much more frustrating. Despite
dominating play, we lost 12-10 as seemed to have a hard time
controlling the ball when we had opportunities inside their 22.
However, Game 2 Goat awards go to Dave "Cogs" Shioji and Don
Edrington who were both given "gift" tries under the post but missed
the easy conversion (he who scores....kicks) costing a tie or win.
Game heros - Poltroon brothers Greg & Matt Robinette (who scored AND
CONVERTED) in the first match versus Boulder; Andrew Cuomo, who did
a great job of tackling my man as well as his man as well as Bob
Coyne's man (Coyne never tackles anyone); Mark Scully (who actually
caught three passes) and Mike Monaco (no one really knows why).
Poltroons represented on the pitch:
Blitz Anlitz
Tony Nuland
Mike Monaco
Greg Robinette
Matt Robinette
John Howe
Andrew Cuomo
Bart Cuomo
Bob Coyne
Poltroons represented at the keg:
Steve Lewis

QUOTE OF THE DAY (Forward's captain Steve Blair at half-time as we
tried to address our areas in need of improvement and his commitment
was questioned) - "Now that we are taking a hiding, this is where
the finger pointing is starts - fuck it, it's Monaco's fault!"
BAD NEWS
Tony Nuland sustained what appeared to be a ruptured patella tendon
that will likely require surgery. However, Tony was still in good
spirits. Please make a effort to wish Tony the best.
HATE TO ADMIT IT, BUT.......: Where is John Abare? Come back
Johnny, we need you!
