VintageAmateurWrestling Photo Annex is a tribute to the "good old days" of amateur wrestling, with the focus on photos and features from vintage instructional books and magazines (such as this photo from a 1936 issue of Athletic Journal)... along with historically significant high school wrestlers and programs.

At this Yahoo group, you'll see when amateur wrestling in high schools was done on cotton mats, not today's Resilite foam mats... when the wrestlers didn't wear singlets, but wore trunks and tights, shirts optional, headgear optional... and the rules even allowed full Nelsons and other now-prohibited holds.

We welcome YOUR contributions of photos, links, articles and comments that relate to old-time amateur wrestling. Just be sure to play by the rules.
