Hello everyone

There will be a Vikings Golf Day on 24th November at
Wollongong Golf Club. I'm not 100% sure of the tee off
time but it will be sometime after 1:00pm. Vote in the
morning, golf in the arvo, alcohol in the evening.
Green Fees are $30 for 18 holes, club hire is $15 for
half a set or $25 for a full set. Golf buggies are $35
for 18 holes, the buggies holds 2 people plus clus for
2. If anyone is interested let me know and i'll pass
your details onto Nathan who is organising the day.

Also the AGM will be on Friday 9th November which is
in 2 weeks time. It would be good to get some girly
representation down there. Plenty of positions are up
for grabs, President and Secretary to name a couple,
so if anyone is interested in helping running the club
you will be more than welcome. The guys would like to
see some girls on the committee and it's the way to
ensure we know what's going on at the club and also
have a say in everything too. I haven't quite made up
my mind as to whether or not i'll be playing next year
because of work commitments but i've put my hand up to
be the girls representative on the committee at the
moment.

Thanks to the few people that helped out at the
Highland Games, your support was noted and much
appreciated. There will be a major motorcross event at
the club on January 12 so bar staff and helpers will
be needed then too. Keep your eye out for more details
to come.

Jason Robinson, Andrew Sheridan and Johnny Wilkinson are standing before God at
the throne of Heaven. God looks at them and says; "before granting you a place
at my side, I must first ask you what you believe in." Addressing Robinson first
he asks, "what do you believe?" Robinson looks God in the eye and states
passionately, "I believe Rugby to be the food of life. Nothing else brings such
unbridled joy to so many people from the grim North to the bright lights of
Twickenham. I have devoted my life to bring such joy to people who stood on the
terraces supporting their club." God looks up and offers Robinson the seat to
his left.

He then turns to Sheridan, "and you, Andy, what do you believe?" Sheridan stands
tall and proud, "I believe courage, honour and passion are the fundamentals to
life and I've spent my whole playing career providing a living embodiment of
these traits." God, moved by the passion of the speech offers Sheridan the seat
to his right.

Finally, he turns to Wilkinson, "and you, Johnny, what do you believe?"

"I believe..." says Wilkinson "...you're sitting in my seat."

Wallaroos Prepare for Black Fern Challenge

The Australian Women’s Rugby team, the Wallaroos, has begun final preparations for the two-Test series against World Champions New Zealand starting next week.

A squad of 22 players has assembled at the Sydney Academy of Sport in Narrabeen for a three-day camp before departing for New Zealand on Friday.

Coach Steve Hamson has retained seventeen players from last year’s squad and has promoted ACT’s Megan Valler, NSW’s Tui Ormsby and Kylie Pennell, Queensland’s Cassandra Nunn and Victoria’s Tegan French.

NSW veteran scrumhalf Cheryl Soon has been named captain of the touring party.

The Wallaroos’ last hit-out was at the iRB Women’s Rugby World Cup in Canada in 2006, where they finished in seventh place.

The New Zealand tour will begin with a warm-up match against the Central Regions Development team in Palmerston North on Saturday before Test matches in Wanganui and Wellington.

Hello to everyone

Vikings Oval will be hired out on Saturday 20th
October for the Highland Games. Don't ask me what
exactly will be going on that day, but i'm assuming
that a bunch of kilt-wearing people will be competing
in a range of events. A bar will be running on the day
to keep things interesting and this is where we get
involved.

We need people with their RSA to work at the bar while
the event is on (between 9 and 5 i think). Don't
stress, you don't need to do it all day but if you
could spare an hour or so that would be much
appreciated. I am at a surf carnival that day (Jackie
you are probably in the same boat, well a different
boat but at the same carnival!) so if anyone is
available i'll pass your details onto Fish who is
organising the roster for the boys.

Even if we only can get a few girls there for a few
hours in total then that's better than nothing so
please let me know if you can make it.

Ta

Hello everyone

We have reached the end of our season and although we
had some ups and downs along the way i think we really
finished on a high. If we start next year where we've
left off then we will be a force to reckon with. We
were robbed of a chance in the grand final this year
but this is how the teams that made it went:
Ist Division - Warringah 30 def Parramatta 13
2nd Division - Bankstown 27 def Waverley 15

Thanks for those of you that went to presentation last
night, a good night was had by all (especially anthea
so i've heard...) I hope all of you at Mel's
engagement had a good time too. Winners of the awards
were:
Players Player - May Barber
Rookie of the Year - Tammy Fletcher
Coaches Choice - Jess Cooney
Most Improved - Casey Williams
But we are all winners as i organsed bags for
everyone, well most people. I went through our team
list and figured our who payed their fees (ie made a
commitment to the team) and that is who got a bag,
there were 22 people in total. But there were a couple
of people who were a significant part of the team this
year but don't seem to have paid fees - if you are one
of those people then you can expect a call from me if
you haven't had one already. Thanks to May for taking
all the bags home in her car. I beleive that we will
be organising a BBQ for the team in a few weeks so
that'll probably be the best way to distribute the
bags properly.

There will be a working bee at the club this saturday
6th October starting at 10am. We have a few events
being held at the club over the next couple of months
that could potentially bring us a huge income and
there is some work to be done to bring it up to
scratch. Many hands make light work so lets show the
boys that we can build things as good as they can.
Apologies from me as i am working and can't be there,
but if we could get a good showing from the girls,
even if it's only for an hour or so, many hands make
light work.

The club AGM will be on the night of Friday 9th
November. Positions such as President and Secretary
among others are up for grabs. It would be great to
see some girls put their hands up for some positions
and it will benifit us too as the more of us that are
making decisions then the more decisions will go our
way. They have gone easy on the girls for the past few
years and not pushed us to take on positions as we
were starting the team up and trying to get it
running, but we've been around for 3 years now and
it's time for us to step up and get on the management
committee. Don't panic, the committment isn't as big
as you would think for some positions so i'm sure
there's a few people that could put their hand up to
help.

Well that's it from me for now. I hope you're all
enjoying your long weekend. See you soon
Astro

Ditto what Abby said. That sentimental, corny American
sports movie speech said it all.

The only thing left to say is that we will be meeting
at Vikings at 10:30 to sort out lifts and travel up to
Canterbury. Make sure you are ready for a big game
because we don't want it to be our last. We have a
full side but no subs so we will be playing hard for
the win but we definately have it in us, that was
proven last weekend. So lets go out there and do it
again and show that we don't care that Bankstown got
another chance after forfeiting the semi because we
know that the spot in the grand final against Waverley
is meant for us - we just have to play one more game
than planned to get there.

So see you all saturday morning 10:30 at V-I-K-I-N-G-S

(blues)

Hi girls,

Just letting you know that I haven’t been able to rearrange my plans for this
weekend, which means I won’t be playing with you on Saturday – which sucks.
But ultimately, it’s probably better for my poor knees… they were aching and
hurting even when I was just walking for the first half of this week… I
don’t think that’s normal, and I wouldn’t want to risk making the injury
more serious. (also why I didn’t come to training on Tuesday… Probably
should have mentioned that to someone earlier – sorry!)

But anyways, seeing as though I won’t be seeing you girls before you play the
big game on Saturday, just thought I’d send out m little team talk… J

Firstly, just wanted to say that last Saturday really showed me how far we have
come this season. We played like a real team of rugby chicks. It felt good to be
a part of that, and I just wanted to say thanks… and considering our present
form (4 from 4 girls, with only 2 measly tries against us in the last 5 weeks),
and the fact that Bankstown has had 3 forfeited matches in the last 7 weeks, we
are in with a chance to make it through to the big GF (third time in a row, as
Deb pointed out!)… You can do this girls. Just believe in yourselves – corny
I know – but it’s the truth. I’ve seen the difference in you when you know
you can do something, compared to when you think you’re gonna get axed! It’s
a very obvious difference too. So don’t let anything stop you from believing
that this game is yours!

Okay, sentimental, corny American sports movie speech is now over…

Go kick their asses girls! YYEEEWWW!

Hey ladies!!!

Well done on making it to the Grand Final for the 3rd year in a row!!!!!! It’s an awesome effort, and im really impressed to see that you have stepped up to managing the team after hides stepped down from her role as manager of all things Vikings!

My team down here just played in their grand final, unfortunately they lost…I would love to say that it was because I wasn’t playing, but I think we all know that I don’t make that much of a difference!!! If you’re wondering why I didn’t play, I dislocated my shoulder at nationals and had shoulder surgery 4 weeks ago…I have a 3inch scar on the front of my shoulder…at least chicks dig scars!!!! Lol

Anyways that’s my quick update. I reckon I’ll be back in the gong for Christmas eve, hopefully I’ll see some of you there!!!!!!

Catch ya!!

Saturday's kickoff is at 1:00pm followed by First
Division at 3:00pm. I'm not sure who is playing 1sts,
i'm assuming Parramatta (it looked like they were
giving Cantebury a good flogging before we left on
Saturday) and the loser of the Sydney Uni/Warringah
game (i'm not sure who won that, hopefully Warringah).

I'm assuming that everyone that played last week will
also be playing this week, let me know as soon as
possible if you can't. We don't exactly have many subs
at the moment so we really need to give a full
commitment for the next 2 weeks until we have won the
grand final.

See you all at training tomorrow night

Hey ladies, just letting you know that Unigames Rehersal Party is on
Tuesday night at the Illawarra at 8pm. Seeing that you will be
training it come quite in handy to get changed in team uniform - rugby
shorts, one sock and bonds singlet and go in together! I wont be at
training seeing it is my sisters birthday and my parents 25th
anniversary so doing the whole family thing, but will be giving Anthea
spare Bond singlets and socks for people to borrow - although I would
like them back and tasks to give out to all the newbies attending this
event. SO GET PUMPED!!!!!!

Shadow

P.S Although I would love to attend Jnr preso I have to work that day!

Hi ladies,
Some important information. Hope it finds you in good health.
We do have to play Bankstown this Saturday at Canterbury home ground (Wills
Ground). I will inform with time details as soon as possible.
So, maybe not as easy a road to the Grand Final as we hoped, but certainly
another fantastic opportunity to learn and perform as a team. We've only met
this team once in the year early in the season, and were very close to beating
them. We've come a long way since then, and I believe are much more
experienced, with the definate ablility to beat them!
So, to do this we need EVERYONE at training this week. Remember that we must
build on what we know, and practise it so that in a game the right decisons come
naturally. This will only happen through training, and game time. Last week's
game was a great example of teamwork, and everyone seemed to really pull it
together. Should be very proud of your perfomance. SO, the long and short of
it is - show up to training, train hard and play hard this weekend.
See you there.
Cheers,
Sheridan

Hey guys

Merrick was wondering if a few of the girls would like
to go to the Junior Presentation next Sunday (23/9)
and present some awards to the kids? I'm working at
this stage so would anyone like to volunteer to help
out? It starts at 12:00 and will be at Collies.

Note: forwarded message attached.

Hey guys

Great game on Saturday :) I know it's all over the
radio and papers this morning that Wollondilly finally
scored their first points but we can still hold our
heads high knowing that they didn't break through our
defensive line to score a try.

As i was leaving the changeroom there was one blue
Cantebury headgear (size M) on one of the benches.
Does anyone own it? I think it was in there before the
game but i grabbed it anyway just incase it did belong
to one of us. I figure i can always take it back if
it's not.

And once again, PRESENTATION NIGHT is on soon. So far
me, Tammy, Anthea, Vashti, May, Mick are going and i
have 2 payments. $30 a head for dinner (drinks at club
prices) and we need numbers and payments ASAP. I can
collect money at training or put it into my account.

See you all Tuesday
Kristy

Please note that the eligibility sheets need to be completed by each team competing in the finals series and should be returned to the office via email or fax (9368 7326) no later than 5pm Tuesday. Player dispensation requests should be received by 5pm Monday.  For eligibility purposes please note that you cannot include matches that you have forfeited however you can include matches that have been forfeited by opposition clubs if you have lodged a team sheet (this includes when you play Drummoyne).  Team sheets that were received late (i.e. after 5pm Wednesday - during the regular season) cannot be counted towards eligibility.

All players will be ID checked prior to the commencement of each game (each week) so please ensure that they all bring photo identification to the finals series.

Also note that there is NO interchange during the finals series and no more than 7 replacements/substituted can take the field (i.e. Laws of the game apply).  Feel free to nominate on the eligibility sheet as many reserves as you wish but only 7 will be permitted to play.

If anyone can volunteer to Ground Marshall a match please advise.

Any queries please let me know.

Regards,

Mark
