hey babes,

after saturday training on the 10th of March is anyone up for the races? i have a dress that i look exceptionally hot in and a group of us are going so will be a sweet day (possibly some recruitment time too)  we can head to the north gong or collies or wherever you decided after k?

if there is already something on i do apologise it is hard to keep track with all the events on and i know denaz wont snob me to get sunburnt at the beach.

Also, my plan to be a better mum and drop to part time work sucked so i am off loading my kid on thursdee avo and will be joining you for training for fitness... i am fairly popular so my being there should boost numbers at least haha
(and who knows might drop those extra kilos im carrying to be a kick arse break away hehehe!)

Hey this is Sarah masquerading as Sheri again.

I have posted our nomination form for the 7s tournament into Warringah
Rubgy Club. I forked the $150 out of my own pocket so all the girls
playing (there are currently nine of us) will have to pay me about $15
each before they take the field.

Confirmed Players on the List are:

Larissa
May
Nic D
Sarah
Sheri
Muff
Coons
Tori
Abby

If you're not on the list and would like to be, just let me know. If
you're on the list and don't want to be, could you also please let me
know.

I hope you've all been training? Also I'm going to organise a training
session for Saturday 11th of March. Venue at this stage is Lang Park.
Time 10:00am (so we can get it out of the way). Please contact me
either via email: Sarah.Jean@... or ph 0434876214 to advise
whether you can or can't attend.

Thanks guys,

Sarah

I'm going to second sherri's calls for more people to come to training. Its
really important to start getting numbers to training, the 7's tournament is
only a couple weeks away and also the boys are teaching us depth techniques and
knowledge in terms of skills.

So see everyone on thursday

THAT'S A YES FOR THE RADGE!!! Definately sounds like a
plan. Who else is coming?
Have fun at the BBQ, i can't make it as i'll be at the
beach all day. Hopefully it doesn't rain!
I'm up for your dad to help us Abby, any extra help is
always welcome (as those who were there on Saturday
would agree, i have some work to do in the ball skills
area...) I will be at training tomorrow night so i
will see everyone there.

Hey,

What about Towradgi Pub (or The Radge as it is affectionately known) for the
Tah's game. A purely selfish suggestion as I shall be there for some pre
Regurgitator drinks. Just a thought... (I know Astro will be ticking the
yes box on that suggestion)

On that note, any one wishing to join myself and some others for some
rock/electronica at good old Waves for a change of scenery... and pace! Come
see The Gurge. Tix $20.

Good point Sherry and Abs about trying to find new love outside the
clique... maybe you can make pals thurs/fri/sat day nights.

Your dad sounds like an ideal candidate to get us moving... and passing.
Good point about making it worth his trouble!!!

Thanks for all the thoughts. Keep up the good work!

so...
*bbq is gonna be a lot of fun, but like sheri (and i'm guessing most of us, it
will be interesting to see who we can find that isn't already somehow connected
to the rugby circle of life!
*ball skills sessions, i am asking my dad tonight if he is interested in coming
down for a run with us, which hopefully he will say yes. although he's a league
boy, the back line moves and passing drills aren't that different, and he has
done a lot of coaching for league and oz tag in the past, so that will come in
handy. but, obviously, i don't want to ask him to come down on saturday morning
if only 6 of us show up again. hopefully we can push for 10 (although that's
more that any tues or thurs training session so far)...
*on that note, i think i saw about 9 girls at training last night which is good,

*in addition to training this thursday, we also discussed the possibility of
heading to the pub afterwards for food/drinks/socialising/bonding/whatever, to
maybe entice a few more girls to head down, and also to make the trip to
wollongong more worthwhile for those who live a far distance from the centre of
town. so hopefully that drags a few more butts out of the shadows...
*and one last thing... the game this friday sounds awesome, although i won't be
making the trip to sydney, is anyone interested in watching the game at a closer
venue? there are plenty to choose from, and if being at the north gong two
nights in a row is not on, there is always our new sponsor - collies. but i'm
open to suggestion. just thought i'd put it out there.
i hope everyone is enjoying the first week back at uni, or the umpteenth week of

Hey Coons (and all others)

sorry i didn't reply to Hides offer. I just don't think i can make sessions on
the weekend (but esp Sun) for the next couple of weeks. birthdays and such. and
if i don't have a pressing engagment i'm in canberra, so sorry about that.
HOWEVER, I hope that everyone else either excuses themselves or takes up the
offer. that would be splendid.
Speaking of everyone else... why are there only a handful of people training? we
ALL need to be getting down there girls. it needs to start being a priority hey.
we can't afford to run on the field in our first game with no solid pre-season
stuff under our belts. and if you're concerned about ANYTHING to do with
technique, now is the time to come, cause the boys are very good at answering
questions, and don't mind doing it. SO, basically, either train now or get hurt
later. Sad but true.
On a brighter note, the BBQ sounds like it'll be great fun! only prob is all my
"mates" are already in the club... might need to find some new friends... :)
Also, on a bright note, the Waratahs are playing Western Force in sydney on
friday night. Sarah and i are going... anyone else interested? I'm driving up,
and am happy to give lifts, but i'll be staying in syd, so you'd have to find
your way home. it's an easy walk to central from the stadium (speckled by a few
pubs) :) and after a few beers, and a good game of rugby the train will fly
home. :) i'm going to check out if seating is allocated, and if it is you can
bring $27.50 to training on Thurs (i think that's how much tickets are, or we
could get better ones for $32? not sure, will find that out too) and i'll get
them on fri. hope you guys can make it!
well, that's my gob-ful for now. cheers all! Sheri

Hi

Bring a mate BBQ this Sunday (time tba, prob around midday)

Snags and beer provided courtesy of the longhornes so don't be shy. Bring
someone! Please...

Who's coming???

Also, does anyone wish to take advantage of Heidi's kind offer. No one has
mentioned anything since Heidi offered her time. A few of us went and
watched some of the sevens in Kiama and it was quite evident that having a
long/strong pass will make all the difference. Anyone who came for a run on
Satdy morning will realise I'm not a coach... so lets take all the help we
can get huh?

Start talking girls... I can't read minds.

Hope training was good. I'll be there Thursday.

Love Jess

Went to the committee meeting on Wenesday... Please read.

Coach
One of the clubs current priorities is to find our team a coach. A few
names were thrown around at the meeting; but it seems like its going to be
very much a case of we’ll have to take what we can get. So, if you know
someone that might be suitable, even if it’s a long shot, PLEASE ask them if
they are interested.

Training
TUESDAY and THURSDAY 6.30pm @ Lang Park. Tuesday we had the best turn out
yet. Training with the boys is great. I can assure you it hurts; but it’ll
make an extreme difference come 14th April. Fish and Craig (1st and 2nd
grade coaches respectively) are both really encouraging and more than happy
to have us there and insist that we are welcome to train with them whilst we
look for a coach.

Fees
Players fees are being taken now! The season cost is $150 that includes a
full season of rugby, shorts and socks (featuring the 50th year logo, rather
than our traditional Valkyrie logo). Fees can be paid to Nathan Ryan (club
registrar) at all training sessions, either in full or in installments from
week to week of whatever you can spare; he’ll give you a receipt and keep
track of where you’re at. We had 100 per cent fee payment last year, so
lets up hold our reputation as being the least tight arse team in the club.

Bring a mate BBQ
On Sunday the 4th March (time tba, but most likely around midday) the
Longhorns will be hosting a “bring a mate BBQ”. This means all club players
are invited to bring to the BBQ, a mate, a boyfriend/girlfriend,
brother/sister, work colleague, etc. anyone who can fit into any of the
Vikings teams (juniors, seniors, women, longhorns) that may want to know
more about the club. So think about it… Who can you bring???

Season Launch
Viking’s will be launching their 2007 season in a big way on the 7th April.
As it is the clubs 50th year, the current seasons uniform has been designed
in a traditional style and will feature the once off 50th year logo. More
on this event to come.

50th Long Weekend
The June long weekend will host the formal Viking’s 50th year celebrations.
So keep it free; most importantly the Saturday where we will have a game at
Vikings (as will all other branches of the club) and in the evening there is
a 50th year gala dinner at the Frat with up to 350 people expected to
attend. Again, more details on this weekend to come, but don’t say you
didn’t know to keep it free.

Recruitment
Promo day was a great success! Thank you to all those who gave their time.
I honestly don’t care how many pamphlets we handed out, but just the fact
that there was one person from the women’s team being part of the public
profile of the club for the whole day was extremely valuable in getting our
team and our club recognized in the local community. The committee also
sends big thank yous to all the helpers.

It’s going to be a really big year for the club, so note the days I’ve
mentioned and get involved. You’ll hear more from me again soon no doubt.
In the mean time think of that friend you’re going to bring along and who
you know that might be the perfect coach for the Valkyries.

Love and stuff

Jess

An update on the Sevens situation:

I have contacted the Warringah Rubgy club and I'm waiting to hear back
from them regarding the closing date for entering the competition/
maximum number of players in one team/ and competition rules.

What I need now is a definite commitment to play from enough players
and then we can really get the ball rolling.

So...Competition details first:

Date: Saturday March 17
Time: 10am to 4pm
Venue: Pittwater Rugby Park
Cost: $150 per team (which covers free lunch and goodie bag for ten
players)
Games: Each team will play a minimum of 3 pool games and there will be
referees etc.
Prize Money is up for grabs and there will also be novelty events
(like a dash-for-cash and I think Nic D should be entering that one!)

Listed below are players who have shown interest so far:

Sheridan (confirmed) Denae (maybe)
Sarah (confirmed) Stef (Are you keen?)
Larissa (confirmed) Heidi (maybe)
May (confirmed)
Tori (confirmed)
Abby (confirmed)
Nic D (confirmed)
Coons (confirmed)
Bec (maybe)
Muff (maybe)
Grubby (maybe)
Mel B (maybe)
Nic C (maybe)

Anyone else is also very welcome to get involved too (if I get enough
numbers we could enter two teams...which would be fantastic!) And I
hope I haven't left anyone off the list???

I need ALL of you to email or phone me (0434876214) as soon as
possible to let me know if you are Definitely playing.

For those who do decide to play we will have a training session the
weekend before (March 10 or 11); time and venue yet to be
confirmed.I'd also encourage you to get down to tuesday and thursday
night training to work on that fitness :)

Ok thats all for now...thanks guys and i hope to hear from you all soon.

Training:

TUESDAY and THURSDAY 6.30pm @ Lang Park.

Meeting still on tomorrow at approx 7.30pm (after training). Will try to
keep it as brief as possible. In the meantime, think about what you can do
to get the word on the street. Every little bit helps.

In other news,

Les is unavailable to coach this year. Sad, but true. So thinking caps on
- who do you know that might be able to help out? We need to explore all
options. I've filled in the committee on this matter, so they may have some
thoughts at this weeks meeting (wednesday evening). Will keep you posted.

Thanks to those who have passed on apologies for tomorrow. At least I know
you care. See the rest of you for a run around. (If you were waiting to
training with just the girls to start; that's no longer a valid excuse. We
might be training with the boys for a while).

Love always

Jess

At the last meeting I noted that the competition would consist of 10 clubs and a finish date of 1/9.  This is actually incorrect.  Though there are 10 clubs (which includes Waverley) there is actually 11 teams as Parramatta fields two.  The effect that this has is it increases the length of the season by two weeks.  As such the competition will conclude on 15/9.  If you want to reduce the season we can opt for a three week finals series rather than four which will see an 8/9 finish.  We can discuss the merits of this at our next meeting.

I will be constructing the draw next week so if you could advise of any ground availability issues no later Wednesday 21 February we can attempt to accommodate these.

Regards,

Mark

I'm sure you're all sick of me, but I need to reschedual this recruitment
meeting.

I'm making it TUESDAY 7.30pm at Lang Park (with a possible relocation to the
brewery if needed).

The reason for this is all available can attend training at 6.30pm and then
whilst were still feeling the burn, at 7.30 we can start discussing the
importance of having 15 players plus a full bench available for games.

I'm not into killing innocent wildlife, but its the whole two birds, one
stone sinario. Training and meeting. You know it makes sense!

***

In other news, Sherry and Sarah have put thier hands up to organise the
Warringah Sevens team. So the ball is rolling and there seems to be a
promising amount of interest.

***

As for Saturday promotions, we've got a full roster. Thank you so much for
getting involved. I'm going to try and float around between the two
locations. I'll text all those on the roster any details I recieve about
where specifically you'll be needed.

New Roster

>Crown Mall
>900 - 1100 Steph
>1100 - 1300 Sherry
>1300 - 1500 Kristy
>
>Westfield Warrawong
>900 - 1100 Larissa
>1100 - 1300 May
>1300 - 1500 Abby

That's all for now. I'll confirm Tuesdays meeting at the begining of next
week.
