Re: [H3SoB] RE: Important: Your Hash Opinion Needed

Okay, I have to respond to this one. First, thank you Wettest, Pen!s Fly Trap
and Apple Pie Ho
for bringing us back from a perpetual state of apathy and debt. That said, I
want to remind
everyone that there was a time when we always owed money to one person or
another for alcohol, and
I don't mean beer.

We went through a stage where hares purchased hard booze, which quickly depleted
our funds. Not
that anyone complained, mind you. However, Pen!s and Apple, as beermeisters
shopped around for
the best prices on both beer and munchies. I knew we were running in the black
since they took
over but I didn't know it had grown to that amount. And this is so because they
treated the
position as one of fiscal responsibility to the group.

If the group decides to go with keg beer, the new brewmeister or his or her
designate has to show
up to every Hash, with the keg and accompanying apparatus. We may have beer
that is three hashes
old, under CO2 pressure of course, but with the possibility that it will run out
mid-Hash. In
that case, the beermeister would need to have a second keg on hand. We have all
seen the Cervix’s
beer wagon, so that shouldn’t be a problem.

I agree with PFT that we should have beer in cans or bottles for those who don’t
drink keg beer,
or who do not like the selection. I think a surplus of $250 shows that buying
beer in cans is an
economically sound practice, especially when purchased on sale. Certainly,
canned beer, if stored
properly, keeps much longer than keg beer. When a keg goes bad, we lose any
economic benefit per
ounce, gained by purchasing a keg over cans.

So, if people want to drink keg beer, let us do that. But this decision should
not be based on
one person’s penchant for beer out of a keg. You will put people off if you do
that. And we
cannot forget that not everyone drinks beer at a Hash. You still need a
non-beer selection.

In the past we have kept the pink cooler full of non-beer for the teetotalers,
who pay us five
bucks a pop to keep the rest of the alcoholics liquored-up. And, if we go the
keg route, we need
a selection of beer in cans for the people who do not like keg beer but pay us
five bucks a pop to
keep those who do from foaming out.

In other words, if we want to keep a surplus, built on those who do not want keg
beer, but still
pay their five bucks, you need to acknowledge their desires, or we will lose
them and their five
bucks. I would much rather offer those conscientious objectors a discount of
say two bucks and
have them participate, than not have them or their five or three bucks.

I know PFT announced to one person or another just how much money was left in
the fund, and I
think we should continue this practice so the Hash, or its mismanagement knows
where the money is
going.

You out there may have a different opinion on the matter, but the fact remains
that the system is
not broken, and it certainly doesn’t need fixing if it makes paying supporters
unhappy, or worse,
non-supporters.

As noted above, this is my humble opinion and if you don’t like it, you may suck
my balls.

Thank you.
