Century Training - April 24th Liberty Hill Loops   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #461 of 7189 |
I'm taking the liberty of reposting this message posted on the Austin
Riders group. It was originated by Jim Hutton announcing the first of
Velocity Cycling's series of century training rides offered as an
adjunct to the regularly published ACA rides. Stan Truxillo offered a
comment or two which follows.

If you've been considering getting back out there for a long training
ride at an agreeable pace with a group of smooth riders, this may be
a good choice.

What Jim has not mentioned in his concise ride description below is
that this is the first of a series of rides planned specifically for
folks who would like to ride a century and want to prepare for it.
Most ACA and other club rides vary in distance from about 25 to 55-60
miles. It's a pretty big jump from 60 miles to 100, so this 80-miler
is intended to help bridge that gap. Thanks, Jim, and Velocity, for
taking the lead in this.

If any of you have contemplated doing a century and been a bit
intimidated, this 80 would let you build up more gradually than just
going out and attempting the full 100.

Stanton Truxillo
