Amanda and Rich Ligato did just that. For three years they drove their 1978 Volkswagen Campervan through Latin America and Africa and wrote the adventure filled book Wide-Eyed Wanderers about that journey.

They are now slowly cycling through the other half of the world, Southeast Asia, China, India, and perhaps even back to Africa.
