Good evening ladies. There are a couple of centuries coming up you might be interested in.
First, is the Stagecoach Century on January 12th. This is the one Raja was talking about- bring your warm clothes because it will probably be COLD. The starting point is in Ocotillo, which is about 80 miles east of San Diego, just off the 8. As of today, Jackie, Lori, Heather, Vicki and I are all doing this, and Sandra is working an aid station. There are 25, 50 and 100 mile options. For more information: http://www.shadowtour.com/Century_Rides/Winter_Stagecoach.htm
The Tour De Cure, supporting the American Diabetes Association, is on April 19th. It leaves from Cardiff and there are 30, 70 and 100 mile options. Lori Schenider is leading up a team for this one, so if you register make sure to find her link. For more information, go to: http://tour.diabetes.org/site/TR/TourdeCure/TDC551018030?pg=entry&fr_id=5059
Hope you are all having a great week. I look forward to seeing you on the ride next weekend!

Everyone knows that chicks in pink ROCK!!! -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
When you post, can you please post to both lists? Also, can you send an invite out to the google group inviting them to join the yahoo group? Several of them know there are new girls, but don't understand that they are all on a different group.
If I can get a sitter for my 3 kids, I'll be there.
Anyone have any sitters I could get my hands on???? Usually I can get the grandparents to help, but they can't at all next week. My kids are 5, 3, & 18 months. So lots of fun to be had for anyone who can take on that challenge! (they are good little girls - really...)
Hope to see you there

I am so excited! I received my official Velo Bella cycling shirt today; would I be committing a sporting faux paux (pardon my poor French spelling) if I wore my new cycling shirt during the Viva Las Vegas half marathon on Sunday??
Let's ride! This Sunday we'll meet at Moonlight Beach at 8:00 and head south. Once we get to Torrey Pines we can split into groups- those who want to do some hill repeats and those who don't.
To get to the Moonlight Beach parking lot, take the 5 to Encinitas Blvd. Exit Encinitas Blvd. heading west. Cross the 101. Turn left on 3rd, and head up the steep hill. Turn right on C.
We'll also do a ride on December 16th. Something inland…
I'll send out an overview of last night's meeting this afternoon. I am SO INCREDIBLEY EXCITED to be a part of this group. I hope you all feel the same.

Saturday I am committed to the Big Ring Racing Team's holiday partay. Plus, it's the TCSD Networking Meeting that night, and it meets at my B&L location.
hhhmmm....the next week? Better to try to get everyone who's signed up for an event. I'm sure Mer has some nutritional questions to ask. She'll come with a list. ;)

I would love to do this. Thanks for organizing, Raja. I prefer the Dec 5th option, as Saturday the 8th is the TCSD Duathlon, which I actually just might drag my butt out too, so Friday night is for sleeping...(I'm sending this to the whole group to encourage you girls to come out also! :) )
I LOVE LOVE LOVE how big and *diverse* this group is getting!! So exciting!
Thanks! Juls

Signed up for a full or half Ironman distance event for 2008? Now's the time to get some answers to those questions you have.. like "What the heck did I just sign up for?" and "I'm doing what??" and "How do I do it?".... and then there's the, "am I on crack?"
I asked Peter & Neily if they'd be interested in doing another session with us Pot Luck style (like last year). They're heading to New Zealand at the end of the year (as in moving) so we need to act quickly.
Is anyone interested in Friday, Dec 7 or Wed, Dec 5? Peter works at Nytro so he won't be able to make it over until 6:30-7pm ish on Friday. Wed he has off and can make it earlier. I'll keep inquiring about other dates too.
As far as location, I'd like to find a centralish location, which is probably in the Solana Beach to Mira Mesa area since we have so many No County people now. If you live in a centralish location and would like to host, let me know!

If you're tired of doing the coast.. this is a great ride! If you're up for the distance, you can do this ride.... this won't be a hammer fest.. and the group will re-group a lot if you get separated on hills (note.. you're not dropped.. you're separated!)

Hello my lovely Bellas!
(And welcome to the new Bellas!! :) )
I just wanted to throw out there that I'll be going for a 60-65mi ride on Sunday via the Highland Valley route, and would love some company! For those of you who haven't ridden this route, it has a moderate-difficult climb up Scripps Poway Parkway, and then lots of rollers along the route. We'll pop back on the coast from inland (I haven't decided how far north up the coast yet), and finish up on Torrey Pines. We'll be regrouping at various points for water/fluids and to make sure no one gets lost. Feel free to join (Fellas also welcome, of course!)
Start time: 9am
Location: 1 Miramar St Apartments (via Mesa Grad Housing/UCSD) off Regents Rd.
Contact info: 760-351-6370
Optional 30 min recovery run afterwards (if you are feeling masochistic - unfortunately, I've gotta do it), followed by breakfast/lunch at a local cafe.
I'll be sending out weekly emails for the rides I'm going on (weekends alternate with long rides and then shorter ride/longer transition run brick workouts) in the hopes I can drag some of y'all along as I continue my training for IMAZ in April (DANG YOU ALL FOR SIGNING UP FOR NOVEMBER!!! hehe Now I really wish I was doing the November race with you all instead). Plus, some of you are hopping back on the saddle for Oceanside 70.3, right...?? :)
I'm really looking forward to an awesome 2008 season with y'all! :)
Cheers,
Shan

I am excited about the tour de cure. I have a 23 year old that has struggled over the past ten years with type 1 diabetes. I pray for the day they can find a cure.

I don't know about you all, but I had a great time last night. Thanks to everyone who came!
Lori and Heather have volunteered to organize dinners/meetings for us every three months. This will be a time we can all get together and chat. The next one will be sometime in February.
Lori is going to be heading up a team to do the Tour de Cure bike ride on April 19th. You can ride 30, 70 or 100 miles, leaving from the Mira Costa Campus in Cardiff. This event raises funds for the American Diabetes Association. For more information, go to http://tour.diabetes.org/site/TR/TourdeCure/TDC551018030?pg=entry&fr_id=5059.
I've added links to most of the races we discussed last night. If I missed anything, or if there's another race or event you want on there, feel free to add it yourself. I'm also going to put out a Poll in January to see who is interested in doing what race. Hopefully, that will make it easier to find training partners.
If you are a "Racer Chick" (signed a waiver, own a jersey, plan on doing a race sometime soon), Velo Bella is allowing us to do a special Patagonia order this week. Email me for details if you're interested. I want to have the order together by Friday. I also received a box of Velo Bella items that I'll bring to the ride on Sunday. We will do a separate group order for short sleeve running shirts sometime in the early spring.
We are going to put together a flyer within the next week regarding the "Intro" rides next month. The dates are January 6th for the Mountain Bike ride and January 27th for the bike path ride.
Anyone out there handy with web page design? If so, please contact me. I'd love to have our own site with info about our rides, and links to all our sponsors that we can refer interested women to.
