I know this is short notice, but we are looking for Dukes and UConn "alumni" to
fill out a couple of teams for the Staples High School Ultimate Reunion game
this weekend in Westport.  We are using the same definition of "alumni" that we
use for UConn (if you are an alumnus from somewhere, you qualify!).  We are
honoring the godfather of Ultimate, the original coach of the Staples team, Al
Jolley.  Buck, Ron Kaufman and myself will be there, so we just need a few more
to field a Dukes team.  This is part of the greater party that is our 35th high
school reunion, but everyone is welcome (and encouraged) to come to the Ultimate
game.  So if you are in the neighborhood, stop on by!

Dukes et al;  A sometime Duke and always a colorful man,  Jon Snow passed away on Friday night from a long fought battle with a variety of health issues. Jon was 50 years young and had a wealth of friends and will be missed by us. I thought that I should pass this along to you all.  If anyone is in the area, there is a memorial service on Wednesday at St. Patrick and St.Anthony Church, 285 Church St. in Hartford this Wednesday at 10.  There will be a gathering at Murphy and Scarletti’s in Farmington at 11:30 in the exchange building in Farmington.

 

Sorry about the bad news for those that new Jon.  He leaves behind a wife and two children and they could use a few prayers. I can pass along any comments to his family.  Big Guy

i want of offer a very special thank you to the aura of UConn Ultimate and
the soul that it brings to me.

i think everyone gets something special out of it.  i count myself a one of
the luckiest people in the world; i think we all are.

Special thanks to the organizers of the event; Becky, Norm, Kathleen, Rob
and Larry.  we wouldn't have this every year without their passion and
efforts.
Thanks to the newly introduced 'Alumni Captain' Fisher who was outstanding
in organizing his motly crew into true playing form - this is a new
tradition that feels like keeping.
Thanks to the newly elected Hall of Fame inductees, current and sure-to-be
future members...we all owe gratitude and probably many brain cells to their
leadership and contribution.
and thanks to the whole community of friends, family and peers.   This is
what makes this whole experience the church that it is for me.

We have planned the reunion.  The table cloths will be light blue, with baby's breath center pieces and the men will wear matching light blue cummerbunds.  Oh, that's for the other group.  Sorry.

Here's what you degenerates need to know:

Our 5th Annual Reunion will be held on April 24th & 25th, 2009.

It is a weekend event; schmoozing Friday night, game Saturday and party immediately following the game. ALL alumni, current UConn Ultimate players and anyone that feels they were influenced by UConn Ultimate are always welcome at our Reunions.  And your family and friends, too.

    *  Party Friday Night, 4/24, 6 pm at Larry G's

    *  Game Saturday, 4/25, 12 pm

    * Party, immediately following the game, at Beanie's
