English Racketlon Open 2008

A great event coming up with categories do suit all standards of
sportsmen is The English Racketlon Open 2008 (also incorporating the
doubles World Championships). Racketlon is the sport which includes
one set of table tennis, badminton, squash and tennis, played one
after the other up to 21 points with two serves each. The host of
this fantastic event is Redbridge Sports Centre in Essex, which
boasts great capacity for racketlon and up to 5 matches will run
parallel during the event which runs between Friday 15th August to
Sunday 17th August. The Friday will exclusively be doubles events,
with singles running on Saturday & Sunday with competitors getting
up to 5 matches (lasting approximately one hour each) over the two
days. Quite a feast of sport. Entries are expected from all around
the world.

An exhibition is planned on the Saturday of the event. We won't give
away any specifics yet but the idea is that we adopt a "battle of
the pro's" taking at least 2 experts and pitting them against each
other. It is rumoured that a very high profile name in the world of
squash has accepted the invitation and the Organising team are in
the process of sorting out the details.

Carlton & Dunlop are again providing an excellent sponsorship deal
and should help provide a professional feel to the event. The 2007
English Open was known not only for the superb facilities and
excellent t-shirts, but also for that dramatic one point victory in
the Mens Final. Rickard Persson from Sweden in the end victorious.
Will Rickard be back to defend his crown and can anyone stop him?
