Everyone is welcome to enter the English Champs in Jan, we say English Champs but there are categories right from novice up to handy where the A Class is still by no means anywhere near a professional level, Im merely a ping pong player with limited skills in other sports and I seem to do ok! Not to mention the Assistant General Manager wiping the floor with me at Romford last Saturday! With my vastly inflated ranking of 7 in the UK, if someone can walk in off the street as it were not having played the sport previously and give me a good pasting that just shows you what the sport is all about. It's great the interest we continue to get and we are gunning for a new web solution in early 2008. See below for web links! And a Press Release from the International Racketlon Federation. Best of luck to the England team in Rotterdam at the World Championships, a weakened outfit with mssrs Struthers & Lawrence not able to make the trip, nevertheless Lorna should do very well and well the men will do well not to finish last, but hey who organises a World Champs between Xmas & New Year. At least the International Federation came back to me this week saying that I was in fact (for once!) talking sense and that it was a silly time to hold a competition with regards to gaining top British participation. However, interestingly other countries don't seem too fussed and no less than 32 of the top 40 on the Mens World Rankings are in attendance, including 12 Swedish Players of this 32 Mens Class A draw. No doubt Ray, Stuart & Co will sort everyone out, if not on court then at the bar afterwards.
Right also Im sorry about this being in a newsletter but Ive decided to go to the Hungarian Open in Feb in Budapest (yes it is causing friction with the Mrs!) however if anyone wishes to join me we can co-ordinate flights, etc. It is the first FULL world ranking event of 2008 and is set to be a blockbuster not to mention my first event abroad for over a year! Also, have a look at www.resultreporter.com the new, innovative racketlon tournament & ranking solution for the World Tour where players will also be able to register for the 2008 ENGLISH OPEN & DOUBLES WORLD CHAMPS taking place at Redbridge next August. A bit of an Internet explosion for the sport which continues to grow online.
I wont bother with happy new year n all that, go on then, happy Chrismikkah, that's a bit different, more of a combination type event!
Cheers
