1. Hampshire Results and Latest Rankings

Please find attached in an excel file. Next steps are to integrate the ladies
world rankings and establish further ways to record these rankings more
accurately, but still deliver them in a timely fashion.

2. Racketlon Holiday Makers

The website system for www.racketlon.co.uk allowing many more users to make
updates has been put in place in draft. Hopefully this draft will be finalised
once the web designer is back from honeymoon!

Same goes for the English Racketlon Association which is due to be set-up
imminently. Thanks very much to Stuart Foster for all his work in formulating
the documents and for all the volunteers (so far) who have put their names down
to help form the formal organisation.

3. English Open - 17th-19th August

We are thinking about some different ideas like big scoring signs. We are keen
to get many members involved from the Redbridge centre itself and also the local
area in London. Mossford Table Tennis Club (the premier table tennis venue in
East London) have agreed to link to the event in principal -
www.mossfordttc.co.uk - by providing table tennis tables for the event which the
organisation should be able to transport to Redbridge for the event. It's all
rather exciting!

You can complete your entry in 2 simple steps:

Racketlon Engine -

http://racketlon.i2.ca/engl07/entries.php

Payment via Active Europe (where more information is available) -

http://www.activeeurope.com/Events/index.cfm?AC=EventDetails&E=46103

50 names down so far, why not join the party?

4. Eliasson Loses!

For only the 2nd time in 7 years, World Number One Eliasson was defeated in the
2007 Swedish Championships last weekend. He made the finals since 2000, but not
in 2007. Having lost only once in this tournament previously to Steffan
Adamsson, everyone was surprised. Regularly known on the circuit as the best
table tennis racketlon player in the world Mats Kallberg caused one of the
biggest upsets in racketlon history. 21-3, 21-17, 9-21 - Eliasson gives up. With
Kallberg needing 12 in tennis, this was by no means a certainty as Magnus has
defeated a range of strong tennis players in his time to single figures.
Something is not quite right with the Iron Man, World Number One. Kallberg never
came close to beating Eliasson in several attempts and adds his name to a very
elite group who have claimed the scalp of the ex-professional Ice Hockey player.
More info is on www.racketlon.com via the breaking news function.

5. First Event in Switzerland

A massive entry has been received for the upcoming Swiss Open. Our very own
Dominique Ford is heading out there and we wish her the best of luck in an
allmighty field. Encompassing an impressive 190 people. Not a bad debut at all
for this event......

6. Hampshire Open - Report - June 2nd

Lucas and Lorna take the plaudits.

Lorna See was barely troubled, waltzing to her first title in Hampshire. Lorna
went one better than in 2006, where she was narrowly defeated by Sarah Reeves.
See the Improvement! Solid squash and badminton gave Dominique Ford, Anne Terry
and Michelle Eaton little hope.

Simon Lucas also took his first tour title. Gaining a walkover in the final was
a stroke of luck that could not have been predicted. Mark Jackson,
unfortunately, had to pull out with a groin injury. However, what he may not
have realised as he drove home on the M3, is that he got to the final on
countback. In a dramatic finale to the group round robins newcomer Keenan Hamza
beat Stuart Hobden +3 - 1-21, 21-9, 21-5, 16-21. The only combination that would
have seen Jackson through to the final was Hamza winning the match by between 11
and 1 point/s. If Hobden could have edged to a 21-13 victory in the tennis, he
would have been in the final. This is since earlier Jackson defeated Hamza only
+6 - 21-2, 21-16, 10-21, 14-21 and Hobden defeated a tired Jackson 21-4, 21-16,
6-21, 18-22 - GUMI VICTORY FOR HOBDEN. Stuart, by beating the higher ranked
squash coach through the group wide open. However, newcomer Hamza who eventually
finished 3rd in the group on countback bit back in the tennis
to ensure that there would actually be no final. This was by no means a
certainty and at 18-13, spectators, while watching an excellent set of tennis,
were placing bets on whether Hobden would keep Hamza under 14 or whether the
match would even finish 21-14 and Hobden experience his second GUMI in a matter
of hours. Perhaps only a measure, Gumi-Arm World Record Holder Raymond Jordan
can boast. Hamza is one for the future and watch out for him, once his table
tennis improves!

No doubt happy to avoid the group of death, Simon Lucas defeated an upbeat Keith
Lesser 3-21, 20-22, 21-5, 21-14 - +3. Tennis being the dealbreaker, although at
6-4 in squash the match looked all but over. Lucas moves up the rankings.

Rhodri Oliver has certainly come of age and remains undefeated for the 2nd
tournament in a row. Winning Class C in Hatfield and Class B in Hampshire
beating Gary Jackson and Russell Smart. At 17, could he be the next Calum Reid?
With pretty decent badminton and table tennis and superlative tennis, not many
would want to take Rhodri on court. A marginal squash improvement will see the
young star take the racketlon world by storm.

Congatulations also to Alex Hoad on winning his first racketlon match against
Robin Woodhatch. Geoff Jordan got his revenge from 2006 by beating table tennis
supremo Daniel Gillett. Rumour has it papa's next target is his son Ray!
