Hi Everyone
Please find attached full results, placings and the updated rankings.
This new template is being used for the world rankings see tab "points matrix".
In practice for the British Tour this does represent some issues, playing in a
tournament is very rewarding and the rankings are becoming pretty skewed towards
regular players (how else am I number 4?) - congrats again to Mr Carpenter for
moving up to the dizzy heights of 3 in the UK.
While I quite enjoy this task (first hand info on all the movers and shakers) if
anyone wants to take it over from the next tournament that would be fine. Key
skills are Microsoft Excel, interpreting the new points matrix and knowing which
players are new or not (easy to check). Probably takes 1-2 hours per tournament
(depending on number of entries).
Stuart Hobden has been working on the idea of a new system to get points for who
you beat rather than where you finish, but we need the rankings to be more
accurate for that to be in place and also more people (lots of newcomers at the
moment). How would newcomers get rankings and how could we reset the rankings so
there are realistic differences between places.
We are thinking of doing an ESSEX OPEN on 24th June at Next Gen Romford - can
anyone think of any major issues with this? It clashes with the Swiss Open, but
avoids the Queens and Wimbledon tennis tournaments (in between) and may be a
good bet as the racketlon calander is pretty crowded. Thanks to Ian Mackney for
making this contact. Thanks also to Robert Wong and Gareth Shaw for flagging up
this centre.
Also, we are playing with the idea of the British Open in Dudley in October! But
will need a team of volunteers to take this on. How about the enthusiastic team
of Maynard/May & Close? Surely about time you guys ran an international event
(and don't forget the main motivation for having a second world ranking event in
the UK is to build all of our world rankings so we get better seedings when we
travel ;-))))
The new rankings will be used for the seedings at Hatfield, hopefully see you
there!
Cheers
Keith
