Why should I come and play in The English Open?
Racketlon is a sport for one and all for the beginner, the professional or just
someone who likes swinging a racket and having fun! We have several bands
including many different age groups so the important thing is you will play
someone of the same ability. Also, we are employing the "play for your place"
system where you start in say a 32 Man Draw and end up at the end with a place
of between 1st-32nd!
So come on this message is for all those racketlon stars who are still to enter
- Calum Reid, Mark Jackson, Harris Brothers, Graham Norton, Gareth Shaw, Geoff
Capell, Rob Comber, Nigel Hunter, Dave Maynard, Matt Schlotter, Oliver Close,
..................the list could go on all day, come on down for what is set to
be the best racketlon tournament ever in England! Get your friends, get your
family involved. One of my friends is playing and he only ever plays tennis
normally and another hasn't ever played anything at all, but just likes the idea
of it! Experience is not an issue.
We are being FLEXIBLE so if you can't get Friday off work you can start friday
night or even Saturday Morning if it means you can't come otherwise. Obviously
not everyone can take this option, but we will listen and consider each person
on a case by case basis. It just means probably you play lots on Saturday while
your opponent gets a nice rest in comparison, playing one less game. This is a
new experience for all of us, so lets grow together! It could be an olympic
sport one day and you could be one of the first to participate in what is only
the 5th English Open competition.
You can even come to The English Open this year and talk to the Swedish Man who
manages a Sports Centre in Stockholm, his name is Lennart Eklundh. They say he
is the one who invented the sport....................and he is a favourite in
the O55's event.
There is even a rumour that Magnus Eliasson (World Number One) wants to come and
make sure he keeps his World Number One Spot which could goto the young Scot
they call Calum Reid (World Number Three).............sounds like history in the
making.
Thanks for your time
Keith
