Hi Mr Reid
Shame about young Andy today - played a blinder the other day. I always fancied a few wee chats with Mr Henman on the ole mind coaching side ..reckon Mr Murray could learn a lot from that game today if he was of a mind...
You coming out of retirement for the Scottish Open in September !? would be good to see you if so
Cheers Steve

I'd be absolutely delighted to receive some promo programmes. Please send
to the address below. And if a promo T-shirt would help spread the word
........ and you've got one my size (ie Foster/Jordan size) .... then please
enclose.
£600 shortfall!! That would have a Scotsman in a cold, cold sweat, but to
you City boys ....... that's just the cost of a Tuesday night, post-work,
round in one of your flash Champagne bars!!
Ching-ching!!

Ray,
I agree................!
Also, it would be good to keep communications in one
place............................can we use the Yahoogroup do you think it
is possible, we only then need to use one email address and there are
already 20 people signed up.
From your list I have taken off all the people already signed up, there are
polls and even a Racketlon Calender which includes the 3 Racketlon events
in November!
http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/UKRACKETLON2005/
Would you be able to have a go at Redbridge? Bare in mind Heston is not a
lot of work as we already have the contact. Wayne Alexander is the manager
and I know Wayne Donaldsen and Stuart Foster tried in the past, but we
should start afresh with a 2 court tournament proposal. The summer is
probably the best time when they are not busy (probably most likely to
agree..........maybe gun for July............I could help then also after
my finals in May).
If anyone wants some programmes to show people to help publicise the sport
let me know (Mr Reid - what is your address?), Chris Davison would you also
like to have a copy to send on to your contacts at Manor House?
Any tournament which is run (which is marginally profitable) should also
contribute to the shortfall of the English Open, as I would like to recoup
the money as soon as possible (£600ish), ordered too much food for the
buffet oh well live and learn!
Heston Provisional Date (3 weeks after the worlds?) - December 17th-18th
Hounslow Heston 2 court tournament. "The London Open".
Tournament Director - Ray Jordan
Support from Websdale, Lesser, Gillett......................+ and some
inspirational new volunteers.
I reckon Bernie (rackets manager) will be up for it. What do you think? Get
Marc Levy cracking with another website and we are away. No t-shirts, no
programmes, definitely no buffet, beers in the local pub (a possibility),
keep costs and flashness to a minimum and just use the purest ingrediant of
all loads of Racketlon being played! £20 entry fee? Small prizes for
winners.....Keep it clean and simple and we are away!!!!!!!

Subject: British Racketlon
Assoc/Tour
Hi all,
I think it's importnat that we maintain the momentum and kick on with this
for the time being, especially as a lot of us will be in Vienna for the
worlds and therefore be able to continue this discussion in person.
What we need to decide is what we, as a large group of UK racketlon
enthusiasts, need to focus on over the coming months and this next year.
Simon and Stu F have both pointed out that before a tour is organised it
may
be sensible to either create an Association or Federation first, so we are
much more structured and are working within a set framework/rules, however
you want to call it. I personally think it is vital that we kick off with
some smaller regional tournaments as soon as possible (although making sure
we don't rush anything), as our primary aim at all times must be to promote
racketlon within our country - and there is no better way of doing this
than
getting more players and more venues in more areas of the UK involved.
Summary of potential venues so far for future 'internal tour' events (once
again), with the responsible person or potential organiser:
- Heston (Ray)
- Edinburgh Next Gen (Si, Katy, Neil, Sarah)
- Amida Beckenham/Hampton (Mark J, Ray, Amida Boss)
- Hatfield (Nat, Stu - that was the place you suggested wasn't it Nat?)
- David Lloyd Derby (Stu Web)
- Norwich Sports Village (Stu Web)
- Redbridge (Keith)
- Selection of other David Lloyds as 'checked out' by our Guv'nor Mr
Foster!
(Eastbourne, Cardiff, etc)
- Doug's living room (it's big enough, but the lighting a little
dodgy....!)
We can start off slowly, but I would suggest that we get some very
provisional dates for these venues, or even a simple, 'yes, we would be
happy to accommodate you at some point next year' from those not yet
approached. Mark - don't forget to mention this to your guy during his
squash lesson!!! As we probably now have the e-mail addresses of 150 UK
racketlon players/interested people or more, a small tournament of at least
40 players (f you include new entrants from that club itself) with the
attraction of a nice venue at a 'value for money' entry fee should be very
easy to attain.
We could even consider something small and quick at some venues like the
Gothenburg top 8, or 16, (maybe a 'top 32'??), could be done in one day,
very quick to organise and would raise the profile enormously in a new
area.
Stu F - What do you think is the best way forward with the 'association'?
Bearing in mind one or two of the comments from the past week or so, I
certainly think we should avoid 'BRA' (for obvious reasons), how about BRF
-
British Racketlon Federation, or UKRA - UK Racketlon Association (then we
can have N.I. too if we want them!!!!). Anyway, your draft constitution is
good, maybe if Richard is willing to help you tweak it and get over the
legal barriers, is this also something Katy & Phil you want to contribute
too as you are very much experienced and in the know.
To all - please keep the comments and ideas coming so we can keep things
progressing and hopefully have a lot to talk about in Vienna for those who
will be there. Anyone with any more suggestions or comments regarding
potential venues or sponsors of course please say so!! Also, what do you
all
think - form an association first and then begin working ona n internal
tour
or get a tour underway as soon as possible and work on the legalisation as
we go along? I prefer the latter. What about looking towards a Governing
Body or Council similar to our International counterparts??
Kep thinking and moving guys!!
Ray
