Hi Perry,
You raise some good points, sorry about the bet. Hope it didn't sound like
I was trying to defend him I just think the punishment he got was enough.
As you say it will happen again most jockeys do it at some point. some get
away with it some dont.

Maybe some owners (not necessarily island house's) are to blame as jockeys
seemed frightened of trying to hard when they are going to win. Why push
too hard and win by 10 lengths when you can win by 2 and save something for
the next race. This should not be the case though, surely a horse eased
down is the same as a unfit horse coasting at the back, both could be
deemed to be non triers.
