Keep going everyone!!! Make the OPERS event happen - excited to see this!
Emphasizing what Jon Sensei said, any experienced and dedicated kyu
graduate can lead a very fine class - teaching is an ability that is not
tested in a Dan exam, and is usually learned by doing. I did not feel
that the amount of my screw-ups while leading classes got any better
with advancing grade, but it got easier when I was leading classes more
frequently.
My first classes when I was a no-belt (sweat pants and T-shirt) were
taught by an experienced 4th Kyu who, apart from having a face
resembling Chuck Norris, had done a lot of beginners' classes teaching.
As far as I can remember, he was fantastic, in fact one of the best
entry-level teachers that we had in the whole club.
Osu! Kai
I am frequently wearing a UCSC Shotokan Shirt/Hoodie to class, proudly.
Thanks! Kai
