-The club does not need a senior black belt to lead all the classes.
Ah. Ok. That's good to know. Until yesterday, after talking to Peck, I
didn't think that was "legit".
-Progress may be slow at times.
Don't worry, we're used to it. ;-)
-There may be a student who stops by the table and says "I just moved
here and have a nidan from another JKA dojo..."
Anything is possible. I'm sure JonW and Kai remember what happened two
years ago. We were at the table, jotting people's emails down and
handing out flyers, when this young lady came up to the table and said
something like, "Oh! This is Shotokan! I've got a black belt in
Shotokan." Then she asked Jon what dan he was at, to which, after he
responded "sho dan", she felt all embarrassed for being the same rank
as the instructor. Then Jon asked who her instructor was (or the guy
who gave her the black belt). Well, struggle as she might, she
couldn't remember his name. Aww. . ..
Then when she left, we hounded Kai for a while about not asking her
out on a date.
-We do not need to have an ellaborate/flashy demo.
Though it doesn't hurt. However, higher-up kata I think would qualify
for flashy.
Please report in with your likelihood of attending...
Jon Keeling - 100%
Kyle Abbott - 110%
Luke Abbott - Err . . . will see. Let's just make it 90%.
Well, let's see. Books: We've got the Heian/Tekki and Fundamentals
book. Also, the nishiyama empty handed fighting book.
Who has a template for the sign up sheet?
On my 'puter, I've got a .cdr for a flyer that Jeremy designed (I
think). It says, Devlop: yadayada, Reduce: yadayada, Learn: yadayada.
No experience necessary! Plus, cool watermark and logo. However, the
class time isn't on the card, so I think when we figure that out, we
should replace "get ready to sweat" with that. (because hopefully the
sweating should be a surprise, "What is this salty excretion from my
forehead?")
-Please everyone come in your uniform, even if you feel like you are
not up to demonstrating. It does make a difference.
Hell, I'm gonna wear two uniforms!
Take it easy but take it,
Kyle
