The only time I remember doing this (1997?), we did many "mini-
demo's" next to our table, where we did a couple kata one set, some
basics another, some kumite another time... I think that worked
pretty well, since (according to my fading recollection; I AM, after
all, 40 years old now) students tended to come & go and not really
congregate significantly at any single point... Thoughts? According
to the photo on the above link, this event seems to have grown in
popularity since I was there 10 years ago...

Photo albums from past dojo events would be nice. Pictures from the
beach workouts, tournaments, even parties... They all help to add
the personal touch and show that the club isn't just about sweating
and hitting each other. Does someone artistic want to put together
a big picture and some catchy phrase such as "Take your exercise and
Kick it Up a Notch!" or "Join the Shotokan Karate Club and get your
kicks"? I'm sure someone else can think of something better than
that. These are just some initial thoughts by me.

If you make the weekend classes SUNDAYS instead -
A) More people may want to come up to Redwood City sometimes on
Saturdays for training.
B) I may be able to visit there sometimes on Sundays.
I hope to see many of you on the 25th. Please do chime in if you
plan to be there and what you can do to help. I can probably find
some old photos from training in Santa Cruz around 1989-91, when I
was there. And if anyone has some spare fake blood to spice up the
demo... ;-) Please do come dressed to take part in a demo or two.
Thanks,
Jon Keeling
