I now have my 2009 Season Ticket. I got one of those new
$105.00 Grandstand Season Tickets for my birthday.
(I hate those Box Seats anyway!)... Actually I used some
money I was given for my birthday to buy it.

The World Baseball Classic will culminate on Monday night with a title matchup between South Korea and Japan, the defending champions. The depleted American squad, which rebounded from a loss to Puerto Rico to earn a berth in the semi-finals, was dispatched Sunday by the Japanese, 9-4.
But with their recent performances, Pump Jacks new and old gave East Texas fans cause to dispense with their patriotic doldrums.
The Pump Jacks’ newest tandem, University of Maryland teammates A.J. Casario
and Ian Schwalenberg, were in action this weekend against Boston College, playing key roles in the Terrapins’ 4-3 victory on Saturday. Casario posted the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning, scoring from second by dislodging the ball from the catcher in a dramatic collision at home. Casario kicked of the rally with a one-out single, his third hit of the game.
In the top of the ninth, with the score tied at 3-3, the Eagles were threatening before Schwalenberg shut the door. With two outs, Boston College had runners at second and third. Maryland head coach Terry Rupp turned to Schwalenberg to stifle the threat and preserve the tie. Six pitches later, he coaxed a harmless grounder to first, setting the stage for Casario’s heroics.
For the weekend, Casario was 6-for-14 (.429) with three runs scored, and he now leads the Terrapins with a .346 average. Schwalenberg’s efforts earned him his first win of the
season.
Scottsdale Community College and Pump Jacks head coach Ben Taylor struggled last week against a pair of conference opponents. After going 1-3, the Fighting Artichokes are 22-14 on the season and an even 11-11 in conference play.
Back in East Texas, Stan Phelps and UT-Tyler continued to roll along. The Patriots, who entered the week ranked #4 in the nation by D3Baseball.com, went 4-1 on the week to improve their record to 21-5. With a 5-1 conference mark, UT-Tyler is atop the American Southwest Conference East Division.
Matt Sparks sparkled in emergency relief duty on Monday against ETBU. Coming out of the pen in the first inning, Sparks pitched 6.1 innings and allowed just two unearned runs, keeping the Patriots in the game until an eight-run eighth secured an 8-7 victory.
Paige Hodges continued his hot hitting in three mid-week games, going 5-for-11
(.455) with a double and a triple. Hodges scored a run and drove in five.
Elsewhere in Pump Jacks Nation…
Adam De La Garza: The runner-up for 2008 TCL Player of the Year started in center field for Sam Houston State on Sunday, and he made the most of his opportunity. De La Garza went 2-for-4 and cracked his first homer as a Bearkat, driving in a run and scoring twice.
Dexter Moreno: Moreno continues to swing a hot bat for St. Edwards. The Hilltoppers went 3-1 on the week, with Moreno batting .400 (4-for-10) with his sixth and seventh homers of the season. He leads the team and he’s among the Heartland Conference leaders with a .442 average and .779 slugging percentage.
Pat McCrory: The Kilgore native seems to have found his groove in Dayton Beach, helping Embry-Riddle to a 4-1 record on the week. McCrory went 8-for-20 (.400) with two doubles, two RBI, and three runs. He
also took the mound in Tuesday’s win over Indiana Tech, striking out four of the five batters he faced in a perfect relief performance.
Michael LaCourse: LaCourse picked up his first win of the season for Dallas Baptist on Tuesday against Louisiana-Monroe. LaCourse is 1-0 on the season and among the team leaders with a 4.40 ERA and 13 strikeouts in 14.1 innings.
Jess Todd: The former Kilgore Bulldog won’t open the season as a member of the St. Louis Cardinals, but that setback is likely only temporary. On Monday, Todd was assigned to minor league camp by the Cards’ brass, which means he’s expected to anchor the rotation for the Triple-A Memphis Redbirds. Last summer, Todd rocketed from Class A to the Redbirds, earning him Cardinals Minor League Pitcher of the Year honors and an invitation to his first big league camp. It would come as no surprise if Todd is called up during the summer to make his
major league debut.
