Does this mean that Pierce is NOT involved in the Shreveport team? I would
consider going to see them if he's not. Although, if he brings baseball back
here, I would go support "our" team, even if he profits from it.

>Byron Pierce and John Bryant have gone public in their attempt to form a
>new
>independent baseball league. The first team in the new league will be the
>Rio Valley WhiteWings, playing in Harlingen, Texas; if that name is
>familiar, it's because the WhiteWings formerly played in the Central
>Baseball League and the Texas-Louisiana League, which Pierce and Bryant
>founded in 1994. The duo say they'll announce the other seven teams in the
>league as well as the league name in upcoming weeks. One thing that will
>differentiate the new league from other independent leagues: it will
>emphasize veteran players, with only two rookies allowed on each team.
>(Whether this makes a difference to fans remains to be seen.) Like the
>original Texas-Louisiana League and the Golden Baseball League, operations
>will be centralized: GMs will manage the business side, but the managers
>will be hired by the league and be in charge of personnel.
