I don't know why local ownership is important to the Central League but
we Tyler baseball fans can speak from experience when we say it's
crucial to baseball in Tyler. Absentee owners raped Tyler with two
franchises. The most important reasons for local ownership, at least in
my opinion, are 1) commitment to the local fans and 2) accountability to
local businesses and creditors. Neither the Wildcatters nor Roughnecks
could claim commitment or accountability.
