CENTRAL LEAGUE TO FIELD EIGHT TEAMS IN 2004

Alexandria and Rio Grande Valley will not operate

Durham, NC -- The Central League will operate with eight teams in 2004. The
Alexandria Aces of Alexandria La. and the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings of
Harlingen Tx. will not be operational for the 2004 season.

“We hate to lose two original members of the league,” said Central League
Commissioner Miles Wolff. “We had hoped local ownership would be possible in
both cities, but we simply ran out of time.”

Rio Grande Valley will be on inactive status for 2004. A local group is
expected to take over for the 2005 season.

The Central League will be announcing its 2004 schedule in the coming days.
The Central League Tryout Camp and All-Star Game are already set for Fort
Worth’s LaGrave Field. The Tryout Camp will be held on March 23-24. The
All-Star Game will take place on July 20 with the All-Stars of the Northeast
League traveling down to face the All-Stars of the Central League.

As much as I hate the idea of giving Carl Bell my money, that All-Star Game
might be interesting --- pitting two Independent Leagues against each
other...

we'll see,
Brent

GLAD WE ARE TALKING AGAIN!
