Maddodg for pitching coach? Are you serious? Unless his focus was
completely off kilter, the Colts ERA speaks for itself. We never
found and kept 4 starters. Our catchers went through call signs like
sand rolling from beaches. He can recruit like a madman, that's a
proven given. But can he manage who he gets? And Malvin didn't last
too long in this league. Thought he was so much better than this
level he got inflated ego syndrome. Heard there was allot of that
around here the past two years. Maybe that was part of the clubhouse
problem too. Maybe all the power hitting talent didn't make up for
the lack of defensive ability.

Really examine the box scores from the 2002 playoff rounds. Colts
played well but were really lucky to steal that title from the
Senators. I don't think STeve was happy here at any point in 2003.
He was less fan friendly, less focussed and more distracted for a
number of reasons. #1 being Kendall and Jake Burnham's story
becoming a 3-ring circus. #2 Power hitting with 2-5 errors per game
and no pitching support. I'm not sure had Bruha and company offered
Maddock the job that he would accepted. Before the announcement he
was already scouting other teams and players during playoffs in Ft.
Worth. He's been rumored to have interviewed in Ozark, Shreveport
and wants the Edinburg job if Tredaway leaves. That could make for
interesting sparks next season but would just as soon see him move on
from thie league.

All my pennies worth of course. But the man who arrived here in the
spring of 2002 was not the same guy who left here 4 weeks ago.
Whether he changed or the situation changed, this season was tough to
watch for all the wrong reasons.
