There is an old Arabic saying: "Women are for marriage. Guys are for fun." And although Islamic law seems to set hard standards for morality & modesty; -There is an underculture among many Islamic men that quietly exploits a giant (& respected) loophole in what seems to be almost a "homophobic" social code. While AnalSex is a capital crime in most of Arabia, -NONpenetrative sexual contact is quietly accepted with a wink & a nod in most sects! As long as a man is NOT used like a woman, -it's not a "crime" & generally not even considered S3X!
Far from being strange, -that viewpoint is actually thousands of years old & can be traced into other cultures as well -notably Greek.
So what is Turkish-Wrestling all about? On the surface, -it's obviously a sport for men & a time-honored one at that. Beneath the surface, -it's a venue for men to make friendships with other masculine, athletic men & enjoy the best of those in 'private' -usually using competition & related travel as the venue for that privacy.
Ironically, -such men do NOT identify as "gay", -& most completely reject the term & associated stereotypes altogether. "GAY" is a shameful word because of the connection with AnalSex, effeminacy, & other masculinity debasing acts. Men of principle know that it is wrong for a man to "play the female role". However, forming deep physical friendships where gentle & loving genital-play is enjoyed in private is what the very best friendships have consisted of for thousands of years. It's an activity that is shared between best-friends of good-character. And again: AnalSex is completely rejected as dirty, debasing & damn-UNmasculine. Men who are experienced Turkish Wrestlers know that most guys are selectively amBIsexual -& desire to bond intimately with other admirable men of respectful demeanor's.
An ancient group of honorable men exists today; -Seperate from the "gay" community. They're called g0ys (spelled w. a zer0).
