Hey, Tidewater:
New info re. Ultimax. I just got back from Greenville pickup, and the tourney
fields are flat, green, and soft, as usual. There's 3 guys who're interested in
picking up with us, and based upon our not-too-terribly-strong numbers, I told
them to come on.
Looks like most folks are coming down Friday night and staying at my house.
Directions to my house and to the fields follow. For those of you who'd rather
mapquest, see you in a week. Also, the tourney webpage (
http://www.ecu.edu/irates/ultimax.html ) has hotel info and a 'directions' link.
Norfolk to Greenville:
From Norfolk, take 264 West thru Portsmouth to 58 West toward Suffolk. Take 58
business into Suffolk, and turn left (at a big construction site) onto 13
business South. Stay on 13 business South, which becomes Rte 13/11. Near
Ahoskie NC, Rte 13 and Rte 11 split, and you'll want to bear right to take 11
South (there's a sign for Greenville). Exactle 5 peanut fields, 8 soy-bean
fields, 6 cotton fields, 13 tobacco fields, 12 chicken farms, 1 catfish farm,
and 2 small-engine repair shops later, you'll enter Greenville. Once you pass
the 264 junction overpass, go ~2 mls and take a left onto Airport Rd (at a
Hardees). Go ~1/2 ml, crossing RR tracks, and take a right onto North Green St.
Take N. Green St across the Tar River. Go 5 short blocks beyond the River to
5th St (there's a Trailways bus station sign at 5th St). Take a left onto 5th
St.
If you're going straight to fields (skip the next paragraph if you're going to
my house):
Go a couple blocks and take a right onto Cotanche St. Stay on Cotanche (it will
turn into Charles Blvd) until you pass a Harris Teeter and go under a RR
crossing. Go up a hill and approach a large intersection with Greenville Blvd
(first light past the RR bridge). Take a right just before the intersection
into the parking lots of the (brick) ECU Allied Health building complex. The
fields are at the back of these lots.
If you're going to my house:
Take 5th St thru downtown (if it's Friday night, watch out for drunken pirates)
and past The University. About 3 blocks past campus, take a right onto Forest
Hill Circle (my street). My address is 805 Forest Hill Cir, which is on the
left, 3 houses past the church. The house has a gravel driveway and cars with a
bunch of cars with ultimate stickers. Call me at (757) 651-9004 if you're
having problems.
Also, I've received some updates from the tourney director that can be
summarized as follows:
-no dogs on the fields (and there's not really a good place to leave them).
-keep the booze under wraps.
-games start at 9am (more likely 9:45am).
-capt's meeting at 8:30am (likely 8:30am).
-got to pay before team can play.
-the no-skirt/no hot-pants for men rule is in effect (Greenville is a not
usually thought of as a hot bed of political correctness, but if Gus wants to
wear his flower-print skirt, I imagine that they'll still let him play).
If you want to read thru the updates, I've pasted them below. That's all from
me; see you Fri and Sat.

Pools are on rsd. The women's pools will be changed due to some new
information given to me. Games will start at 9 sat. Captains meeting is at
8:30. Remember, nobody plays without paying. I will try and contact the
teams that have first roud byes tomorrow. No dogs are allowed at the fields.
No alcohol is allowed at the fields. Rec Services will ask you to leave if
they find you drinking. PLEASE keep the alcohol under wraps!!! It is out of
my hands if you are asked to leave.
Directions: Take US 264 E into town. US 264 E will turn into Stantonsburg.
Stantonsburg runs into 14th St and you will have to go right or left. Go
right. Go to the 4th light (Charles). Take a right on Charles. Then, turn
right just before you get to the next light. The fields will be straight
ahead.
Get back to me with any questions. Thanks.

From: Kevin Cale <kcale@...>
ECU has a strict rule about No Dogs... you will be asked to leave.
Also, they have a strict NO SKIRT Rule for men.
From: Matt Robinson <irateultimate@...>
Good point Kevin. Any men wearing SKIRTS or hotpants or trying to play
naked, will be asked to leave immediatly! Women wishing to play naked must
see me first.
