I am having a problem with my 4 strokes. They are slow to idle down.
This first happened on my DR400 and now is going on with my DR650! I
cured this problem on the 400 by changing carbs but there must be a
better way to cure this problem. I have checked for vacuum leaks on
the intake boot and changed the o-ring and checked for cracks, seems
fine. WHAT IS THE CAUSE??? Any help is greatly appreciated. Oh
yeah....Project RM500F is in the works......beware!
Thanks, Jay
We'll miss the next race because we are doing a vintage hare scramble
down here, but will make teh last race plus 3 Hammer and Tongs races
during the summer; Washougal, Goldendale and Longview. MD.

Yea, I have a UFO headlight/number plate that works for that kinda application real nice and small. I have one of those small taillights with the rubber plate for the license. It is a nice set-up for trails.............SD

I am looking at 77 xt 500 that is very good mechanically but has no
lights or battery. I rode a tt500 about 30 yrs ago that had small
headlight and taillight hooked up. This is what I woud want if I bought
bike as our local enforcement is very lax and I wouldn't be doing any
real street riding at night. Just something that burns. Anyone know how
this could be done now.

Mad Dog, it was'nt your price at all that changed my mind about those fender/number plate combos..... It's the fact that I'd have to do quite a bit of exhaust re-routing/muffler changing to be able to use that number plate, & still clear the rear tire & the number plate. I simply don't wanna go through all that. And I hope you can come up with one of those RD400s, or SR500s, or the Beemer you mentioned. All really great bikes, fer shure....
Bobby, Congrats on the new H-D!!! Are you gonna still ride a few of the VMX races?

Hope everyone is set to have a really Great Christmas!!
Projects???? After I get some work done on finishing one of the rooms in our basement, I can squeeze in some work on the bike projects. Been amassing some rebuild parts for an XR500 engine, & I bought a '98 KTM 300 MXC recently. It needs a coupla minor things (handlebars, front rim, radiator guards.....) to be in shape for trail or track. It's kind of a cool bike; defintely way lighter, faster, & easier to ride than "Tank #23", ya know.... I actually have all the parts I need for the KTM, except for coolant/antifreeze, & gas to mix with some Golden Spectro, but no time for worky-worky..... No riding here, until I get some projects done, or it dries up a little, sigh.... Been really soggy & cold around here. Most of the off-road type of riding areas I've been wantin' to hit have a whole buncha snow coverin' them up. Just drivin' there could be a challenge. If I can ever get the KTM ready, I may think of trying some of these indoor riding areas around here (Clark County Fairgraounds, Salem Fairgrounds, Hindsight, & etc...... Sometimes, on the XR, I kinda feel like I'm "in everyone's way", & just trying to "survive" out there, rather than riding, when I'm on a modern track with youger, modern-bike riders, ya know.
