Moderated discussion on the martial arts of Indonesia, Malaysia and Brunei, and arts that trace their roots to that tradition.

All traditions (aliran) and schools (perguruan) within the Nusantara martial arts tradition are welcome.

Rules of Play:

1. Contributions *must* be on-topic, i.e. concerned with some aspect of the Indo-Malay martial arts (quasi-off topic announcements of general social interest to the group, e.g. Guru Joe Bloggs is now the father of a newborn baby [insert gender and species] will be OK on a case-by-case basis).
2. Basic rules of netiquette apply such as : No political or ideological diatribes. Jangan bakaran -- no flaming. Tak mau cekapan kasar. Good adat and hormat are painless and inexpensive, and preserve the quality of life in a shared space.
3. Moderation is in the model of scholarly peer review rather than gatekeeping and enforcement, but the moderator's word *is* final.

Language

Ordinary business of the group will be in English. However, postings may be in *any* language, in particular threads conducted in Bahasa Indonesia and Bahasa Malaysia are encouraged.

Objectives

Besides the discussion list, I hope to see people using the Files, Photos and Bookmarks areas to turn this into a really first rate Indo-Malay martial arts information clearing house. Short essays, discussion pieces, what have you can go in Files, pix from seminars, demos and tourneys in Photos, and please link your page in Bookmarks.
