Hi, Joe.
First...ooooowwwww Muuuccch?
Second, I liked once more your magnificent comparison between water and learning...Huumm, I dont wanna be Muddy water, so I will keep on learning.
On shapes - the Faka Is no symetrical, cause its inspired in a all pourpose knife seen all around Brazil and I wanted to keep close to the original shape, to have its point centered I would have to make it clip point and it will completelly destroy the idea... As in spin throwing the knife Falls to the target (in an overhand throw) there are no problens in having its point aligned with the spine of the knife.
I also makes other knives that are Daggers and are Symetrical, there goes a draw of a Circo (Circus) knife, its shape have something in common with yours and with Roys knife, altought mine is shorter and wider than Roys, and have more angles than yours - BTW I liked Very much your shape and the handle that got a butt narrower than the part close to the guard, it looks Perfect for a good slide release. I have knives with knobs on the handle, as the knobs use to deviate the slide...
About tempering, I will contact Jaime this week, he was working out of city, I wanna know if he knows anything about salt water tempering. Must say I saw the most crazy recipes for quenching media, including Cows piss, burned bones, etc, but I believe the old and good oil is a better bet.
Abraços, amigo, be well
