We must ban together, whether you are city folk or the people of God and Guns. We have a long fight ahead of us and may have to weather through at least the next 4 years with what we have and that is an inalienable Right to Keep and Bear Arms.
We are not sheep, we must not let this right go darkly into the abyss, we must keep this right and cherish it dearly.
This right allows us to fend off an oppressive government, this is what many of us volunteered to defend, to keep America Free!
We have a sign at my shop, it says "We Support Free America!" You should have such words where you work and gather.

Hey all, take the time to research the "house bills" that site has
listed, I did. I found that one of our Ky State Reps did file HB 715
on March 4th 2008 and withdrew it March 5th 2008. I used
their "contact us" link and emailed them twice and told them to
remove Ky from their list. The email came back undeliverable both
times. So, I emailed the State's attorneys office and the governor.
I'll let yall know if I get any reply.

And therein lies the problem. So so many gun owners have no idea what those that are trying to take them away from us are doing. For the ammo encoding do a search with 'ammunition encoding' and read a few of the sites. You can also go to the site of those pushing this killer legislation here...
Imagine how much $$ it will add to the price of ammo if this is enacted. They (the gun hating brady/soros groupies) won't have to take our guns, all they have to do is make ammo so expensive we won't be able to afford to shoot them.
I'd suggest to any of those here that stay away from the 'politics' of gun ownership to start paying attention to it now. Join the NRA and your states rifle association. Get on e-mail lists with them so info such as that concerning 'ammo encoding' get sent early and often to your e-mail box. Then call/fax/write your congress critters locally and nationally so THEY know how you feel. Yes, some of them do actually listen.
No matter what nObama has said, he and his group of liberal gun haters WILL try to take firearms and ammunition out of the hands of law abiding citizens, the 2nd be damned.

As an avid target shooter/hunter, I'm very concerned about legislation regarding guns and ammo. My state is one of 18 considering legislation for coded ammo. And there is alot of talk about a federal ban on guns and/or ammo. I uge everyone to contact their state/local govenment as well as their senate/congress representatives and let them know how you feel on these issues.

I let my Representative know regularly about my concerns, but the best thing that anyone can do is to recruit members for the NRA. I recruited another member this morning. The goal should be to double or triple the NRA membership in a very short period of time..
No matter what problem you have with the NRA, Direct those problems to your NRA field rep or directly to the NRA, now is not the time for infighting about this organization, unless you can build a very wealthly and powerful gun organization in 6 weeks or less. If you complain about what you think is wrong with the NRA on this forum and you don't discuss your concerns with the NRA, you are wasting time and working against the RKBA.
As it was stated going into the current Iraq War, you go to war with the army you have, in our case as gun owners, that army is the NRA.

From my experience shooting comped and non comped revolvers that were identical and side by side the only difference I found was muzzle blast and flash was more pronounced with the comp. The amount of felt recoil reduction was negligable in my hands but others claimed it was effective. That could have been because they were expecting to feel less recoil. I proved this to 2 of them when I put an unvented barrel in the shroud of my Dan Wesson 44mag that had the vented ports. They fired 6 rounds each, then I put the vented barrel in the same shroud and told them it was an unvented barrel. Two said the recoil was much greater than with the "vented" barrel. The others said there was little difference in the recoil, reguardless of being vented or not. Same gun, same barrel length, same ammo, two differend oppinions. Only one of the 6 of us besides me felt the recoil
was reduced witth the properly vented barrel, and I take myself out of the equation because I knew what was which. All I can say is get it, try it and see for yourself.

Over the years I have seen the Army 1911s, the Colt 1911s and many similar pistols made by various companies.
I am some what of a traditionalist, I like mine in 45 ACP. I have used a 38 Super, 9mm and 22 LR, including the ACE.
Currently I own 3 Kimbers and 1 Wilson, They are all in 45 ACP, they all shoot extremely well, The only non 45 ACP that functioned well for me was the 38 Super variation. Now I kind wished I had kept that one.
But now I look at the barrel bushing compensator and wonder if they really do work, has any one had experience with the compensator? I do realize that this means that I have to look for a holster that will accommodate the longer pistol.

I agree and I just wanted to update everyone on a question I asked some time ago about 22 conversion kits. I wanted to know if anyone made any for the doublestack 1911 such as the Para. I called Marvel and asked if there was any issue I should be aware of and I was told their units will work with all Series 70, Series 80 and all mill spec 1911 pistols. In the case of the wide bodies you only need to change magazines. At present the wide mag is a heafty $60 each and only comes in steel. I have the poly mags that I use in my 1911 and they are not only a lot less expensive but also very slick and lock in and drop out like they are made for it. Since they come slightly oversized you can sand them down so they fit and function exactly the way you like them to. I have run several bricks through each of them and have not had a function problem due to the mags or the conversion unit. Everything that malfunctioned was due to the ammo. So much for
using Remingtons, or Federals standards solid points. Every misfire was a FTF and after retrying to fire each round in several other guns it has to be due to poor primer prep in the manufacturing process. They had no pop at all.

I always thought Blazer rounds were
assembled from aluminum cases, I haven’t bought commercial 45ACP ammo in
15 years or more, load my own for everything from plinking, target shooting to
defensive carry ammo.
The last time I purchased commercial
45ACP ammo, it was Cordon and I had several bullets fall from the brass, I
never fired the ammo and still have it somewhere around here.

Now, to be on topic, I decided to try some blazer brass rounds for my 1911. I
would say that I have put about 300 rounds through it so far of various brands
of ammo, but I am getting 2-3 rounds in both boxes that will not load. When you
look at the cartridge, you can see the brass is too big to fit into the
chamber.
For the life of me, I cannot remember the first few boxes I had, but did not
have a problem with any. I kept the box, but it is away somewhere, and the only
place that carries it is out of the way from me.
Now, I do have a box of S&W rounds to try. Anyone have anything to say

I have never voted for a democrat in my
life nor would I ever vote for one. I was still on active duty during Clintons first term what
a disaster. While I agree that the current administration has much to answer
for they are not the root of all that is evil. For instance the current
economic crisis is the making of the liberals, pushing the mortgage companies
to give loans to people who didn’t qualify especially minorities mostly
in a bid to buy votes. We have a huge entitlement mentality with welfare, WIC,
food stamps, free medical care, the list goes on and on. I for one am tired to
the government taking my money from my wallet to redistribute to those who do
not work. Currently we have the worst Speaker of the House this country has
ever seen, congress probably has the lowest approval rating of any congress and
guess what? Yes both house and senate are controlled by democrats, socialism at
its best. Even the president’s approval rating is higher.
I live looked at the libertarian party,
was even a member back in the 90’s until they started disparaging the
military, came out in support of open borders and a very weak defensive
posture. Most of their candidates have been kooks to be honest.
You are of course free to vote your
conscience though that is your right.
Thanks and have a great week and enjoy
shooting your 1911’s, probably won’t be too long when we will no
longer be able to do so.

That sounds like the land I have in W. Va that over looks Pa. Night seems to start afternoon when sun goes on the other side of the mountain. No fishing then, but good game hunting there.

I have lived in many countries and many ares of the states. While in Canada, I lived in Alberta, where the winters are bitterly cold and the summer can be brutally hot, best thing there besides the hunting is the beer.
When I lived in Europe it was always cold where I was
in Germany, when I was in Latin America, it was always tropically hot, but I got to play with real AK 47s there, that were captured by the police and the miltary.
I taught at university for over 25 years, when I retired I found my benefits were a little restrictive.
Over the years I found that I liked to have seasons, but not to the extremes. So I found eastern Ohio, the local economy makes my retirement stretch a great deal and the people are friendly.
While running around the area, I found a place called Salvage Foods, or at least thats what the signs says. I mentioned to my house keeper, and she said "oh you mean Bent and Dent." This is a strange little place with the crushed boxes of breakfast cereals, flavors of stuff that no one wanted and a few more things.
But out here, no one cares if I am shooting in my back field, most of them don't know
that I am shooting. Currently I am up to 23 Coyotes for the year.
If I need to get milk, that is about 10 minutes away at the local BP, which is a Carryout with pizza, subs, ice cream and all of the other things that they carry.
Most of the people around here know when I am dating the ladies, one even said I should have kept the blond around. :)
I tell a lot of people that I live in BFE, actually 20 miles further away, because Egypt Valley is north of me, I can strap a gun on and that is normal around here. For my open carry pistols, I like the 1911s, some times I will carry my Sig P220, for concealed carry, it's generally my S&W 340 PD, but with cold weather, I start to carry my 1911s under my jacket, they is something to be said about Carharts.
The problem with a 50 BMG type weapon for me, is too many hills in the way. The AS 50 has a 2 or more
mile accuracy range, except you can't travel 2 miles around here with out going up and down the hills. It get s worse the further south east you go from my place.
But I would have to have a Barrett 99 for a while, so I can shoot ground hogs in their dens. Then my neighbor would really know that I am out shooting.
Take care,
Jerry

I live in Eastern Ohio, near a small village or hamlet called Somerton. I am about 30 miles or so west of Wheeling W.Va. So I live in no where.
Everybody is welcome here if they give me a day or two notice, I have plenty of floor space, so bring your own tollows.
In my
backyard is a 100 yard range, by deck has a gun platform to shoot from, you can be on the platform during nice weather or under it during bad weather, Either position gives you about 150 yards to my backstop. Coyotes are optional.

I still use a Rolodex, actually have two of them, have my business phone and my home phone and my FAX line into my home office. I still use the Internet extensively,
Currently I am rewiring the shop as that I just have a 400 amp service increase for my machine shop, so I am doing my low voltage wiring for phone and my computer network out in the shop. None of my machine are CNC, I do have DROs on them, but that is about as far I will go with technology.
The problem is when I am doing some that I have to really concentrate on the phone rings. Email just shows up silently.
If I had a 50 cal Barrett, there would be few G' Hogs and Coyotes out my way.

As for the rolodex thing, I never did believe in putting everybodys phone number on a wheel. As long as I got to write it down put it in a notebook you can keep in your pocket. Its worked for the last 50 yrs. Might as well keep it going.
