Shen Gung--Spiritual Gung. Originates from Taoist's branch "Loon Fu San" (Dragon
Tiger
Mountain) Cheung Tin Si's lineage. It is totally different from Chi Gung. Chi
Gung is to train
the inside of the body (Through training the 12 proper meridians and 5 organs
six places in
order to get the balance of Yum Yeung in the body). Where as Shun Gung is a
training that
teachs one to use the spirit( ghosts) in order to perform a lot of different
things. It is not
metaphysical as chi gung.
In the past, in the martial world, there was divided in to two groups of
training. The Shen
Gung and the Ming Gung( Kung fu).
Like Kung Fu styles, Shen Gung has a lot of branches too. Like "Sai Tin Fu Fai"
Western
Buddha Method, ( Which is commonly practiced in Kwong Sai JL TL.) "Look Lum"
"Mua San Pai"
"Kuen Yum Yuk Wong Pai" etc...
Sai Tin Fui Fai is commonly taught in Yeung Yum's lineage, (Wong Yuk Kwong's
lineage)
whether or not it is from the tradition I'm not sure. But in the old days,
especially in Hakka
society, it was very common to practise both Shen Gung and Ming Gung (Kung Fu).
Advantages of Shen Gung is it doesn't need much training and you will feel the
effects. That's
why the majority of people are attracted to it, due to the quickness of it, and
practicality in a
lot of situations. It can be commonly used in healing, predictions, getting rid
of evils,
demonstration of abilities such as kung fu skills that have never been trained
on before...etc.
