MARTIAL ARTS LESSON STORIES FREE EBOOK
I'm putting together stories, poems, fight and drill scenarios
from as many martial artists as will contribute.
If you can submit your own stories, even a fight scene or drill
that I can wrap a story around, readers can gain a perspective
of many martial arts styles and philosophies. Naturally for your
trouble include a byline with whatever nonadult website link
you'd like or other contact information you'd like to include.

RICKS HTML INDEX GENERATOR FREEWARE VER 2.0
I wrote this freeware program because I wanted to reorganize
my website

and search engine friendly. I'm always adding freeware, shareware,
and martial arts articles. So rather than do all these indexes by hand
I spent three days writing code and correcting glitches for this
freeware index generation program so I can automate the next update.
You can make indexes for website including subfolders for your website
automatically yourself for free as well by following the directions to

Workout Timer Update Now Available for Download
WORK OUT TIMER BY RICK HONOR SYSTEM
SHAREWARE 3RD EDITION
For all my martial arts ezine readers, my ebook readers
or anyone else that needs a timer for workouts or
anything else.
If you're like me you're not punching and kicking
the minute you double click the mouse so I set
up a 15 second delay so you can get ready.
You can either select play workout music or
play tada. Every time the round ends you'll hear the tada.wav.
That way you won't have to look at your timer all the time.
Caution is advised, I used to have the workout timer change
songs after the time was over but I got tired of listening to
the first 60 seconds of my motivational music, so now the
music plays all the way through and you may not be able
to hear the tada.wav. Let me know what you think of this.
A reader wrote in and said I should mention to click the
Do It button after using the pull down menu.
Added a between rounds timer at the request of a sponsor
I workout during my lunch hour and was always looking
at the clock to see what time it was. Now it's all in front
of my face if I need it right on the workout timer program.

“Personal Protection Skills for Children?”

I don't believe that ANY "physical" maneuvers or "techniques" are really worth
teaching children.
An EIGHT year old vs. a GROWN adult who is most likely a violent psychopath with
a
HISTORY of violent criminal behavior?
I can't see it.
Instead, emphasize the following:
1. RUNNING at the FIRST sign of trouble. IMMEDIATELY and in a "zig zag" pattern
and using the environment as a "hedge".
2. SCREAMING as LOUDLY and HYSTERICALLY as possible.
3. Wriggle, twist, turn, jump......ANYTHING to make the potential victim HARD to
hold and control..........THEN 1 & 2!
4. RUN towards any source of HELP and SAFETY.
5. ONLY two potential "physical" maneuvers even worth considering - jabbing,
clawing and scratching at the eyes with either one or both hands in a CONTINUOUS
VIOLENT
manner and BITING. ANYTHING carried: Knapsack, book bag, school books should be
TOSSED at the LEGS! Anything to make the skel trip, maneuver to dodge, stumble
ANYTHING that will SLOW him DOWN!
7. Carrying a HI decibel safety whistle(FOX is a good one) on a WRIST strap
NOT around the neck AND a small hi powered LED light also on the wrist.
8. EMPHASIZE ESCAPE! If dragged to a vehicle(almost always the perp's MO)
seize the KEYS(from the ignition) at the first opportunity and TOSS THEM,
either out a window or into the back seat(the farthest, longest, hardest place
for the perp to attempt to retrieve them).
9. If forced into a trunk, pull, yank, kick or BATTER out a tail light and shove
anything through the hole that will ATTRACT someone’s ATTENTION!
10. NEVER, EVER, EVER GO ANYWHERE WITH A STRANGER!!!!!!!!
Fight, scream, run ON THE SPOT! This goes for ANY abduction!
NEVER GO WITH YOUR ABDUCTOR! NEVER!
11. Awareness. But DON'T use "scare" tactics with a kid.
12. TIME is of the ESSENCE! Increase the TIME that the perp is in PUBLIC VIEW
and you'll go a LONG way in FORCING him to abandon the attack and FLEE.
DRAW ATTENTION in ANY WAY possible to the scene IMMEDIATELY!
NEVER give in a GO with an abductor. WHENEVER POSSIBLE MARK HIM!
Try to remember EVERYTHING about the assailant, his vehicle, etc.
13. DO EVERYTHING to make oneself a HARD TARGET! Attackers what
VICTIMS that are easily dominated, controlled and done so in as SHORT
an amount of time as possible. MORE TIME. MORE EXPOSURE, MORE
CHANCE OF GETTING CAUGHT!
14. Once again, DISTANCE as far and fast as possible is YOUR ALLY!

Something to work with:
FIrst five angles of attack-
1. Forehand strike to temple ( striking hand forward )
2. backhand strike to temple ( strike from reverse by stepping back or forward )
3. horizontal forehand to abdomen/floating rib ( same as 1 )
4. backhand to abdomen floating rib ( same as 2 )
5. ( stick should be cocked in rear position ) step forward with a thrust/stab
to the abdomen
Siniwali drill ( partners with 2 sticks )
you will be striking in a diamond pattern
1- / \ - 3
2- \ / - 4 your partner and yourself will be smacking sticks with the same
strike.
1 and 2 are done with one stick then switch to the other as go for 3 and 4.
You will be striking at a downward angle. Remember as you transition f
rom one stick to the other, the non-striking is cocked and ready to go.
Basic Espada Y Daga ( Sword/Stick and dagger ) form
Lead hand has stick, rear hand has dagger.
1. Angle one stick strike ( with labtik or follow through )
2. Dagger stab over top of stick
3. Angle 4 stick strike with follow through
4. Dagger stab as before
5. as you stab the stick goes up like a Top block in TKD ( roof/fan block )
around the head and back into an angle one
Basic knife flow
1. Make an X movement and flow. / slice down first then reverse the direction
and slice up the way you came.
2. Circle around and slice up the \ of the X. Reverse directions and slice down
it.
3. Finish with stab
Knife flow 2
1. Using a + motion this time. Slice to the right horizontal and then back to
the left.
2. Slice up the vertical and then down the vertical
3. Finish with the stab
Knife flow 3
1. Using either above drills stab after every slicing movement
I can post a lot more, but this should be something just to get the kinesthetic
awareness needed.

Crossada Drill ( scissoring )
Remember Kali/Escrima/Arnis footwork works off the triangle. Both male and f
emale or point up and point down. To practice the foot work tape a large
triangle
on the floor and practice moving from point to point of the advancing and
retreating,
maintaining a fixed gaze on your imaginary opponent. This will be the foundation
for
most of your counters ( until someone wacks you really hard with a stick and
you start windmilling ).
Angle 1 & 2 ( solo stick vs. solo stick or Knive vs. knife ) aka Defanging the
snake
1. ( Opponent swings Angle 1 ) Strike with your own angle 1 to the incoming f
orearm or hand.
1a. ( Opponent has knife ) the empty hand passes their striking hand as your
bladed hand slices the inside of their forearm from underneath. Scissoring !
Make sure you step out at a 45 ( triangle work from earlier ) as you slice.
Follow up with stab to abdomen or inside of thigh.
2. ( Opponent swings angle 2 ) You attack with your own angle 2 to the
back of their arm or hand. You can step into the strike to jam the arm
( step forward with your rear leg ) and check with your free hand ( above their
elbow ).
2a. ( knife angle 2 ) Duck under the slash and pass the slice outward
as you slice to the tendons in the back of the hand. Check slicing hand and stab
away .

Tae Su Jutsu Martial Science and Self Defense 04-07-2005

What you may not have known is she has a unique
series which combines video tapes and books
to give you the best possible long distance learning
experience.
I very rarely see Tae get excited but she believes
in what she teaches and wants the best for her
students both in person and long distance.
“There is more to the arts than just teaching someone to pick up their foot, nad
kick
(although with many schools that is all there is).
I watched schools for years teach students and test them,
and yet the student really didn't know much.
Tae Su Jutsu, includes history, proper technique, teaching the uses of the
muscles and why a technique must be execute a certain way, not
only for the technique to be correct, but to execute a technique
without fear of injury, either short term or long term.
It is about explaining the history of forms and where they came
from and why they can still be a useful teaching aid...
the ancient weapons and how to transfer their use into the street,
so that a student is never without a weapon should they need one.
There are two programs. Two sets of books and two sets of tapes.
One for the kids and one for the adults.
As I said before though my main thing is getting older adults into the program.
Too many schools cater to the kids, and expect the adult students to be
able to do the exercise the same way a person much younger can do them.
In older adults and even young people teaching exercise the old way
causes problems, and injuries that do not need to happen.”
