You are 41 and think thats to old to start
training? Dont be foolish! You are only to old when
you are no longer breathing.
First I would strongly suggest seeing your doc make
sure there is no health issues that might be a
problem. Then second start doing cardio and stretch
I prefer in a class where it is organized. While
getting in shape you will also be able to build your
flexibility. You should also look at all the schools
in your area. find out a few things about any
instructor you plan to train under such as ; how many
students he or she has, how long have those students
been with that instructor. If an instructor has
student but all of them are new be careful. If an
intructor wont answer questions then also be
careful. An instructor should know that you are
putting alot of trust in him or her by even walking in
their door and an instructor who wont answer questions
may not know as much as they want you to believe they
do. questions like; who was your instructor?, who was
his instructor?, how long have you been teaching ?
If a man does not want to tell you his masters name
and does not know his grandmasters name it is
unlikely he trained with that master.
I can tell you the names of all my former masters
their masters and their masters. It is not a brag
but a point that most master make you know this , as
respect to their masters.
I would suggest too looking into aikido , as well
as judo and or jujitsu .
You might find it those to be easier to use and
learn as age comes in. the high flashy of tkd is
good for younger people but hard to see a man or
woman over the age of say 40 - 50 starting out with
it. and lord help those in their 50 -80 trying tkd
for the first time.
But aikido has a strong style that helps smaller
weaker defend themselves.
ok later hope some of this helps in some small
way.
