We're back! We hope you all had a GREAT week, and are ready to hit the road
again!
This Wednesday night we will be continuing our 6:30 meeting at Moonlight Beach
in
Encinitas. As always, you can walk, run or do a combination of the two. All
levels are
welcome!
NEW THIS WEEK- In addition to our regular Wednesday night workout, Michelle
will also
be leading a brick workout. Bring your bike to ride 10 miles on the coast, then
follow it up
with a quick 2 mile run. This workout is great for triathletes, duathletes, or
anyone
looking for an extra challenge!
To get to Moonlight Beach, take the 5 to Encinitas Blvd. Exit, heading west.
Cross the
101, turn left on 3rd St. and go up a very steep hill. Turn right on C Street
and park in the
east end of the lot.
Sunday the 15th join us on for a ride on Coronado Island. We will meet in the
Ferry
Landing Marketplace Parking lot near Burger King at 8 a.m. for a 25 mile mostly
flat ride
that will include the Silver Strand. This is a great route for newer cyclists
who are still
getting the feel for riding in a group.
To get there-
5 South to 75 Coronado Bay Bridge Exit.
Right after Toll Booth (non-pay) take a Right on Glorietta Blvd.
this will turn left into 2nd...
take right on A St.
Left on 1st...
on your right hand side you will see Ferry Landing Market Place. Look for Burger
King and pull into that parking lot.
We look forward to seeing you!

Thanks for the offer but there are already a few people doing the brick workout and I really would like to do this as a group brick on SN not just a ride since my race is coming up shortly :)
Thanks tho :D

Just a note for anyone that is interested in doing any brick workouts I know you have a list of the tri girls :) If anyone is interested they can email me
FWD: Here is the bike workout for this week:
What: Brick workout
Where: Fiesta Island on the western side near the fenced dog park and the OTL fields. NOTE: we may have to change the location depending on the use of the OTL fields but the workout will be on Fiesta Island.
What’s involved: 4 mile ride around the island, 1 mile run, 4 mile ride around the island, 1 mile run, 4 mile ride around the island, 1 mile run, lather, rinse, repeat. The total distance will be 12 miles of cycling and 3 miles of running. The runs will be on the soft sand of the OTL fields if available or on the side of the road if not.
This is a great workout to improve your transitions and teach your muscles to change from running to cycling and back. All levels of triathete are
welcome and you can do as many of the loops you like.
THINGS TO BRING: bike, helmet (mandatory), water bottle, running shoes, and the desire to improve. The meeting place for most of the workouts are on the northwest side of Fiesta Island, across the street from the OTL fields and near the dog walking area.
Whitney, sorry I ended up not making the ride as I was so looking forward to it but work had me out of town. Thank you

Subject: [TeamLunaChixSanDiego] Workouts for the Week of June 25th and a July Preview
Hello everyone!
Thanks to all the folks who made it to our Beginner's Only Ride on Sunday. Thirty-two
people showed up to ride the San Luis Rey Bike Path. We all had such a great time; we will
DEFINITELY be doing it again soon!
Our weekly run/walk will continue this Wednesday night at 6:30, leaving from the
Moonlight Beach parking lot. We will walk, run, or any combination of the two for 45-60
minutes. All levels are welcome!
We're sorry to say that due to vacation and racing schedules, there will be no official group
rides on July 1st or July 8th, and no run on July 4th. We hope you all have a fantastic
holiday full of fireworks.
The overview for the rest of July is-
July 15th- Coronado Island
July 22- Del Mar Inland loop
July 29- Moonlight Beach on the 101
At our July 11th run, Michelle will be offering a brick workout option. We will leave the
parking lot at 6:30 for a ten mile ride up the coast. After returning our bikes, we will head
out for a two mile run. If you're planning a triathlon or duathlon this summer, or if you're
looking to put a little oomph into your workout, join us!
Good luck to our own Victoria Jones. She will be competing in the National Triathlon
Championship Race in Oregon on June 30th. Go get them Vicki!!!
Also, please mark Saturday August 11th on your calendar for our 3rd Annual Dance the
Night Away party. We're still working out the details, but we know there will be a fantastic
band, dancing under the stars, and fabulous food. You will NOT want to miss it!
See you on the road!

Can we bring our dogs Wednesday to MoonlightBeach?
Here is comes! Our Beginner's Only Ride is this Sunday! If you're a new rider,
this is your
chance to come out and enjoy the camaraderie of a group ride without any
pressure. If
you're a seasoned cyclist, this is your opportunity to give back to your
community by
supporting women new to our sport. Either way, this is a ride for everyone!
We will be meeting at 8 a.m. in the overflow parking in Oceanside Harbor. We
will be there
to help you set up your bike and get ready to roll out. Also, a mechanic from
Wheel Fun
San Diego will be available to check out your bike and help assure you'll have a
safe ride.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO BRING YOUR HELMET!!!
From there, we will head out for a ride on the San Luis Rey Bike path. From the
parking
lot, it is about an eight and a half mile ride to the trail head. We will have
Luna bars and
water waiting for you there so you can take a little rest before we head back to
the cars.
Round trip, we expect to ride about 17 miles.
This ride is extremely flat. You can do it on a mountain bike, a beach cruiser
or your road
bike. You'll be fine. We promise. If you need to borrow a bike (free of
charge) contact Jay
at julehines@...
To get there, take the 5 north to Oceanside Harbor Drive. Exit heading west.
Turn left on
Carmello drive (before the Del Taco). The street will wrap around and down into
a large
parking lot. You won't be able to miss us!
Don't forget our weekly run/walk at Moonlight Beach! We'll meet at 6:30 on
Wednesday.
Last week we had 12 attendees. Six runners. Three run/walkers. Three walkers.
There's
something for everyone! Come out and give it a try.
To get to Moonlight Beach, take the 5 to Encinitas Blvd. Exit, heading west.
Cross the
101, turn left on 3rd St. and go up a very steep hill. Turn right on C Street
and park in the
east end of the lot.
By the way- check out the article about Gary Erickson and Clif Bar in July's
Triathlete
magazine. You will see why we're all so proud to be associated with such an
environmentally conscientious company! There's even a shout out to the Team
Luna Chix
program!
If you have any questions, PLEASE feel free to contact us!
We hope to see you on the road!

I will miss the ride tomorrow June 17 after all. I have a big party tonight at
the Bridges and need to practice with my new clips, and Joan just got back in
town and has three grad parties. We’ll practice with a later start up
the coast from our house and join the Luna Chix next weekend in Oceanside. So don’t
wait for us!
It looks like you are supposed to e-mail Sonja at Nytro if you are interested in going. You are also supposed to be able to swim 400 yards in the Ocean without stopping. So that does not sound like a beginner program to me. Have you swam in the Ocean before? If not I would make sure that Sonja knows this before you go.

I don't know if that Google map was accurate, but it takes us via
Rosecrans, and if we take the airport exit, it is easier for those of us
coming from North County. So we are riding from Harbor Island to the
lighthouse? is that it?
Hi Marilyn!
I tried to do this on Google Maps, but I'm not sure how clear it is. There are
several
parking lots along the water. We'll be meeting in the lot closest to Survivor's
Park. To get

Hi ladies! Thanks for joining our Yahoo group. In the future, we hope to use
it for all of
our weekly correspondence. I've tried to remove your emails from the old list,
but I'm sure
I missed some. If you receive this message twice this week, I apologize! Let
me know,
and I'll try to keep it from happening again!
This Sunday's ride will include the course for the San Diego International
Triathlon. We will
meet at Survivor's Park in San Diego at 8 and will roll out by 8:15. If you
plan on doing
this race YOU MUST COME TO THIS RIDE! Jay Hines, our ex-pro cyclist, has
pre-ridden the
course and will tell you how to ride it to maximize your performance. This
could
potentially save you precious minutes during the race. Plus, how much fun is it
to pass
people on a hill? You know you love it!
The course is an out and back to the Cabrillo Shrine. If you don't know this
ride, it is
HILLY. It's not too steep, but it's long. We will ride the course first,
taking time to discuss
race day tactics. After that, we will head to Sunset Bluffs or some other local
route so that
the entire ride will end up being about 25 miles. Even if you aren't racing on
the 24th, this
will be a great ride- don't miss it!
To get to Survivor's Park from I-5, take the SD International Airport exit and
follow the
signs to the airport (located on Harbor Dr). You will see the park on the left.
Turn into the
first parking lot PAST Harbor Island Drive. If you get lost, call Jay at
(619)861-5148.
Our Wednesday night Walk/Run has taken off! Come join the fun. As always,
we'll be
meeting at Moonlight Beach at 6:30 for a 45-60 minute walk, run, or combo. All
levels are
welcome. Last week there was talk of heading over to Leucadia Pizzeria for
drinks
afterwards. We're game!
To get to Moonlight Beach, take the 5 to Encinitas Blvd. Exit, heading west.
Cross the
101, turn left on 3rd St. and go up a very steep hill. Turn right on C Street
and park in the
east end of the lot.
And finally, you all should have received our email about the Beginners Ride on
the 24th.
If you have not received it, or would like more information, please let us know!
We hope you all have a wonderful week!
