We're going to try theride again this Sunday, March Camp Pendleton
2nd. Weather says it'll be partly cloudy in the a.m., but clearing
and sunny, Highs between 61 and 66. Dress warmly with layers to peel
off!!
LOCATION:Harbor Overflow Parking Lot (free to park) Oceanside
DATE: Sunday, February 24, 2008
TIME: 7:45 a.m.
BRING: Besides your bike stuff and optional $ for farmer's market, you
must have your DRIVER'S LICENSE.
MILEAGE: 20 to 50 miles (depends on the two groups)
CONTACT INFO: Denise H. 619-459-5239; Randa M. 760-505-0101; or Rhonda

DETAILS: This is a great ride with gorgeous views and lightly traveled
roads. We will start fromoverflow (free) parking Oceanside Harbor
lot, meeting at the Harbor by 7:45 for an 8 a.m. roll-out. We will
all start together with two different pace groups (10 to 15 mph; 15 to
20 mph), and will ride until each group wants to turn back. As always,
no one will be left behind.
THE ROUTE: This route will take you through(10 miles Camp Pendleton
one-way from front to back gate), so you MUST BRING YOUR DRIVER'S
LICENSE to get onto the base. This section of the route includes some
moderate hill climbs (not easy, but not Torrey Pines scary). As we
exit through theback-gate and up the hill, we will Camp Pendleton
take a break in the Las Pulgas Park n' Ride parking lot and see who
would like to turn back at this point, who needs a "lift" back (we'll
have a truck there), and who wants to ride further towards San
Clemente. If you choose to ride further, you can expect small hills
and more gorgeous views of thePacific Ocean as we ride through the
parking lots. We can stop again at the San Clemente State Beach
campground entrance (8 miles from Las Pulgas Park n' Ride) to see who
wants to turn around or continue toward San Clemente Sunday Farmer's
Market where the route has more moderate hills through the residential
neighborhood (fun hills because you get a "running" start!).
DIRECTIONS: To get to Oceanside Harbor Parking Lot, take Interstate 5
north to. Exit heading west. Turn left on Oceanside Harbor Drive
(before Del Taco). The street will wrap around and down Carmelo Drive
into a large parking lot.
If you have any questions, feel free to email us! We hope to see a lot
of you there!
